Infrequently Asked Questions.... Who is the coach for McNeese State? Why, it's Matt Viator, who in his fifth season is 35-13 (not bad) and has won 3 Southland Conference championships and has had the Cowboys in the FCS championship series in three of his four years. His Dad was a player and coach at McNeese, and he is a McNeese State graduate. Is McNeese State ranked? Why, yes - they are #28 in the FCS currently, but started the season ranked #13. Meh - add your own. I kinda ran out of steam. :nope:
And a great guy. I know Matt, we were at McNeese at the same time. He won a State title while at Jennings too.
And the question that anyone who doesn't live in Louisiana, or didn't go to a school or fan of a school that has played McNeese. Where the Hell is McNeese State? The only cool place in Lake Charles, other than that Daquiri trailer on Ryan Street. Just kidding Lake Charles folk.
Pulled this info from the web... McNeese are 2-3 so far this season. McNeese punter, Ben Bourgeois has 21 punts, 813 yards, 38.7 yard avg, and longest at 47 yards. Kick returner, Champlain Babin, has returned 12 kickoffs for 259 yards with a 21.6 yard avg. Longest return was for 37 yards. No TD's. The longest return was by Malcolm Bronson, 52 yards (no TD's). So far this season, no kick was returned for a touchdown. Defense: 6 interceptions for a team total 77 yards (no TD's). There are no stats for tackles or pass defense. Offense: Marcus Wiltz has the most rushing yardage (74 rushes) with 317 / 63.4 avg. per game / 4.3 per carry, and 3 TD's. Looking at the stats, this guy seems to be the star rusher, with Andre Anderson following a close second, although a slightly higher avg. at 5.3 per carry and only 1 TD. Passing - Jacob Bower has been sacked 5 times and thrown 6 interceptions. He's passed for an avg. 160.6 yards per game with an 8.1 avg. With 60 completions out of 99 attempts, his avg. is 60.6. Cody Stroud (secondary QB I'm guessing) has been sacked 6 times, thrown 3 int's, and has a slightly better completion avg with 32 for 48 at 66.7 percent. He's only thrown for 287 yards total this season, averaging 71.8 yards per game. Receiver Corday Clark seems to get his hands on the ball most, with 15 receptions, 147 yards (29.4 per game avg.) and 9.8 avg. per carry, but no TD's. Most TD's are from Wes Briscoe with 2. He's had 9 receptions, 109 yards.
