Rog is a friend of mine. He was a Bogalusa boy made good. He used to hang out at our house on Aster Street when he was playing. My ex wife used to date him. Pretty sure it was Juan Carlos Betanzos though. She didn't follow football, so when she got set up with him, she had no idea who he was.
Damn, it is Juan Carlos...would have sworn Carlos Juan.. ..pretty cool about Rogie.. So it was Ronnie Lewis that flipped off the crowd, David Browndyke was the perfect one...
When could he have played. Maybe the offensive scheme that Matt Canada put in inhibited his growth. I thought Etling played better under Ensminger than he did under Canada. Ensminger is a former LSU QB and I think he’s going to do a better job developing QBs. But it remains to be seen.I told myself that it’s going to take at least Orgeron 4 seasons to get everything in place. I think a lot of success that Houston Nutt had had at Ole Miss was due to the players Orgeron brought in.Ole Miss probably needed to give Orgeron 6 years. Look at Herman last year at Texas even he admits it takes time.
Well, Dabo took over mid-season in 2008. He was then hired as full time HC in the offseason over several other more desirable candidates, and that didn't sit well w/most Clemson alum, who felt like he did not have the requisite experience/qualifications to be a HC since he was an assistant who was coaching WRs (he was never an OC, DC, or HC). He then promptly went 9-5, and 6-6. Living in ACC country, I can tell you the uproar was loud. The only saving grace was recruiting, and offensive firepower. The AD had patience and vision, and in his 3rd season, efforts began to pay off, and they have had 10+ win seasons ever since, including the 2016 NC. Oeaux continues to be lauded by most of the fan base. People make comments like he is in over his head, he sucked at Ole Miss, etc, etc. In over his head? He has coached under Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll, Les, etc, etc. He's been in coaching for 34 years now. He has the experience. He has now coached 21 games as HC at LSU and is 15-6. That doesn't sound like he is in over his head. Mike Archer was in over his head, but I don't think Oeaux is, personally. His Ole Miss record was over a decade ago. I'm much better at what I do than I was a decade ago. To be clear, Oeaux wasn't the hire most of us wanted, me included. It is what it is, he's here for now, and I hope he succeeds b/c then LSU succeeds. I like quite a few things he has done so far. If the results don't pan out, we move on. But, give the man a chance like Dabo was given. If he doesn't, all of you can say "I told you so". If he does, many of you will need to eat crow.
Why not Chattanooga, Arkansas, BYU, A&M? He knew Etling wasn't coming back & he failed to get any meaninful time for the backup QB & let a fantastic WR corps go to waste. No wonder he was so anxious to get QB & WR transfers. He didn't prepare his own players. 4 years? We'll have to drop to CUSA if orgeron is here that long.
Nonsense... Etling had to learn three different offenses in his time here at LSU. I think he tried to get Brennan in meaningful playing time. Syracuse, Troy and Alabama. I don’t think he wanted to destroy his confidence. Brennan did tell Orgeron last year that he wasn’t ready. Why not give McMiliab meaningful snaps. Well maybe that’s why he transferred because even as a freshman last year Brennan was still better than McMillian. I don’t think we want to do to Brennan how we did Jarred Lee in 2008.
i wont even say I told you so, bad hire by a bad AD. This isnt Clemson back in the day who hired Dabo at the time, this is LSU 2003 & 2007 National Champs, 2011 runner up. You dont hire a guy with that track record and hope he gets it right. This isnt job corp. No on the job training here. I dont care who he worked under, his track record is his track record.
