IDK. You know Miles...he might be playing coy. At any rate, if he doesn't start right off the bat then I'm sure we'll see it by the meat of our schedule. Again, I refer you to Patrick Peterson. Granted, it's a LOT easier to "learn" to play corner than it is to get all the plays, routes, audibles, etc. burned into your memory, but we keep hearing about how quickly he's picking it up. Time will tell. Anyway, this was all off-topic... Oh, well.
Nonsense. If none of the candidates managed to separate himself, then you go with the upperclassman. It's smart coaching. That senior has been working hard and waiting for his opportunity and he deserves it. It won't keep the other guys out of the game. But it may keep them on the team some day. When they are upperclassmen, they won't worry about some youngster with a reputation being given the shot they earned. McCray looked pretty good when he had to go in for Steltz at safety in the Championship game.
agreed, i have no problem with miles' up front loyalty. but it's the "ok this guy has been burnt 3 times, this is not working and is possibly costing us the game justin vincent loyalty" that i think people tend to worry about. put in mccray, if he does ok, you reward him by keeping him in. if he doesn't, don't be afraid to put someone in who can get the job done regardless of how many years they've been in school.
This is key. Remember, Ron Cooper, one of the absolute best in the business, is coaching our DB's now. I'm also hoping that this influences Chavis' choice of coverage on 3rd and long.
From all accounts, It'll be 4-3-4. The only difference will probably be Coleman in at LB for sure to take advantage of his coverage skills...not that that's the ONLY situation he'll play in.
i caught part of his show by accident when i got in my truck last night. when asked he said, yeah he thinks as of now mccray would be the starter but thats not necessarily how its going to play out. And he said it may not end that way once the season starts. (paraphrasing) yeah usually isl overreacts on things but lets not pretend this isnt a fault of miles. we may forget because its been awhile since they played but the justin vincent thing was an obvious detriment to the team when it was obvious he was outclassed.
Also from DD's page: I think If Randle is ready he will see the field plenty. It depends more on Randle being ready than it does Miles being willing.
I still like Brooks at the position, he can cover and he can lay the wood. Dude must have fallen of the face of the earth at practice. Or someone is really practicing better than he is. Still its a good problem to have.
I wouldn't worry too much about that. Bradshaw had the same complaints about RR in his high school days. Not saying he half-asses it in practice but he had a reputation as a gamer, and for not going full-out in practice. I hope he's not doing that at LSU, but I wouldn't be surprised if his faster shines through in games... It took Bradshaw some weeks into RR's soph. season to realize much of his players full speed in practice was like a walkthrough for RR(along with DLo and Mackey). No surprise all three ended up being SEC commits.
