In anticipation of the Cards/Mets game 7, I think this would have to go down as the greatest game 7 in post season history.

The Pirates had been outscored by the Yankees 46-17 thru the first 6 games.

Check out the box score for game 7:

    Yankees..0 0 0--0 1 4--0 2 2 = 9
    Pirates....2 2 0--0 0 0--0 5 1 = 10

Talk about a roller coaster ride.

Another little known fact: Mazeroski, known mainly for his fielding genius (8 gold gloves and arguably the best double play 2nd basemen the game has ever seen), hit the game winning home run in game 1 of the series as well.

Bill Mazeroski was finally inducted into the hall of fame in 2001, paving the way for defensive specialists in the future to be inducted.

His biography is aptly named, "Twin Killing". His nickname was "No Hands", for the way the ball thrown from short just seemed to ricochet to first like a bullet on a double play.
