Mett's current struggles have a lot to do with the lack of a decent O line and the fact that he is now running an offense designed for Mariota's skillset. I would love to see what he would do with a team that gave him protection as well as having great receivers and a respectable running game. Mett is not the reason the Titan's will be picking first in this year's draft.
You make a decent point, because we do run mostly 2 route formations. But even when we do run 3 or 4, it's still X or Z or nothing.
I'd take a healthy Jennings in his 3rd season over an injured Harris. What I saw from Harris this year wasn't much better than Jennings from the prior year, and Harris had a better Fournette, a better Dupre and a better Dural.
Didn't say he was...yet, he still has plenty of culpability with an 0-10 record as a starter while throwing a pick in EVERY game. The offense is not starkly different from last year outside of moving the pocket on occasion. Other than that it's pretty much the same old Whisenhunt offense. Mariota's runs, which were not very many, are mostly by necessity rather than design. Even that long one he broke early in the season was a broken play. The O-line issues are partly Mett's fault as well for not setting the protection properly. If you're struggling to read the D it doesn't matter what your O-line is doing for you. Every team in the league would love to have great protection, great receivers, and a respectable running game. He's struggling, period. But he's a young QB and hopefully he'll get his chances elsewhere.
