I thought he was granted another year. It disgusts me that Jacory Washington again will be wasted, and I would be DeSean Smith will be completely wasted as well.
I think the only chance is Etling. Jennings' ship has sailed, and we really don't know anything about McMillan. The light could still come on for Harris. I remember people were calling for Flynn to replace Russell after the Chick-Fil-A Bowl win over Miami, and one year later, they were in the dome chanting "One more year" at Russell after the Sugar Bowl.
I don't think the light will ever come on for Harris, he looks good against weak opponents but he is useless against better competition.
I don't think Gordon was granted another year and all I've read is that it's an extreme longshot that he will. I believe Harris will be better, but I seriously doubt much better. I also don't think Aranda completely converts to a 3-4 next season. Read a good article today about him adapting to the players he has and how he is comfortable running a 3-4, 4-3 or 3-3. He needs to dive into 2017 LB recruiting immediately.
He would definitely be better off using a 4-3 until LSU can get players to run the 3-4, but I would have no issue shifting Key to outside Linebacker, Clark to MLB if Beckwith doesn't come back and just rolling with Divinity at the other linebacker position.
Yes, until he sees what he has and how it adapts to his style of play, it's hard to get a feel for what he might do. I think this offseason will be much like last where we really don't know what the defense will look like. One thing I do expect is better fundamentals. I also like that he gets 3 star players to excel and won't narrow his lineup to just the highest star players. I'm interested to see if he can coach up a couple of these diamonds in the rough like a TM7.
That's not true, man. We all mature with time. Most of us don't look good initially against top competition, but we age and mature. This is true n many aspects of life. QBing an LSU football team against top competition ain't an easy gig. Harris definitely can grow from his first year as a starter and build on his experiences. He needs reps with the screens and mid-field throws, though.
I'm not saying he can't I'm saying I don't think he will. Alot of people last year said that Anthony Jennings reached his ceiling, I think Harris has. I just don't think he has what it takes between the ears. If all we did was run zone read, and then some posts and fly routes, he would be fine for that offense. But lining up under center, 3, 5, and 7 step drops, check downs, changing the play at the line, going through progressions, nah bro, don't think he can do it well and don't think he ever will.
