Bummer to have lost out on him, but look at it this way: At least he's not at 'Bama....or another SEC school.

I'm sure Jimbo sold him on the fact that he mentored Jamarcus for 4 years, etc. (seeing as Manuel is similar in build to JR when he came out of high school).

That was mentioned, also, that he liked Jimbo's offense.

You mean our QB's will stay out of trouble this year?!   :thumb: Just kidding! :thumb:

...But on a serious note, not getting a so-called "#1" QB in this class isn't exactly the end of the world. After all...we still have a former #1 QB (RP) and another very good, very solid and very young one in Jarrett Lee (and if Colt McCoy, who posted similar #'s and similar rankings coming out of high school as Jarett Lee did, can lead the Longhorns to the brink of a BCS game as a true freshman, then Lee can have similar success--especially if he doesn't have to lead the team right away like McCoy had to do).

OC and QB coach. Pretty impressive resume' when you consider most of the QB's under Jimbo's guidance at LSU have gone to the NFL (in some capacity).

Though Booty, Rohan Davey have fizzled out of the NFL, Matt Mauck is hanging on to being an NFL player...and then you have JaMarcus.

Our new OC, Gary Crowton has his own track record with teaching QB's, too.
Though not as decorated as Jimbo's products, Crowton was the QB coach at BC and guided Glenn Foley to a Heisman finalist in the early '90's. And while not as recognizable as Jimbo's QB's, Crowton did produce guys like Tim Rattay and Nate Clement--who are both on NFL rosters, as well as another Oregon QB who's name doesn't come to mind (and no, it's not Harrington).
