I think it is hard to argue this point. The guy has put an Atlanta team that was suppose to be DEAD in the Water and has put them into a position to win a wild card! 9 Tds 5 Ints 1,661 yards 85.4 rating
I think he is ahead at this point in the season. Not many QBs in history of having to play in their very first season have gotten a 85.4 rating. Marino had a 96.0 rating with 20 tds, 6 ints. The kid from the Titans (Chris Johnson) is doing quite well. On pace for 1430 yards rushing and 300 receiving and 12 TDs. Could be a great race to the finish.
Right now it's not even close.....Chris Johnson is the rookie of the year! If he doesn't get hurt, the trophy's his.
it's just hard for me to appreciate this as much as I should because just across the standings in Baltimore, a fellow rookie is 5-3, too. Granted, Ryan is having a better season than Flacco, but still. It just loses a little luster to me. And no one say that it's different because the Ravens are winning by defense and the ground game, because reality check says that's exactly how the Falcons do it, too.
Ryan's "make or break" for Rookie of the Year could come down to two huge division rival games against the Saints. If the Saints get fired up, they could make his life miserable. If the secondary falls asleep like they've done much of the last few seasons, Ryan could pad his stats. I would love to see our offense get off to a fast start to force Ryan into obvious passing situations. Maybe the Saints of old could return and put him on his back.
I think you do have to look at the state of those 2 teams before they were drafted and Baltimore was in a better place teamwise then Atlanta was I think!
I agree, although, if you stuck a buffet at the far end of the endzone that LW should be running towards, he might break off 80 yard TD runs all the time...:wave:
