Green Bay fans think Matt has beaten Brohm. http://www.packerforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16204&sid=ae87702edfdda4877fec3cfbc4fa337f And this from another fan forum. Now, these are just fans, like us, not coaches. http://www.packershome.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&t=1376 I didn't read the whole thread, the first couple of posts sounded so good! It gets interesting. Some fans want GB to sign a vet QB, like Chris Simms or Culpepper. If that happens, they say look for one of the rookies to go to the practice squad or something.
Re: Matt Flynn is No 2 It seems he won the backup job over Brohm. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/wire/chi-ap-fbn-packersnotebook,0,5220414.story
Such great news for Matt. Happy for him. Just shows that the media's love of Brohm and Louisiville the last couple seasons may have been a little misplaced.
Flynn Beats out Brohm Just on sportcenter Flynn wins back up qb battle. :thumb:I expect he'll get good playtime.
Re: Flynn Beats out Brohm Cha-ching. Glad for Matt. He patiently waited his turn w/o opening his mouth. He will start for an NFL team eventually a la Jake Delhomme. Good things happen to he who waits provided he works while he waits! EDIT: How prophetic: McCarthy has worked with a lot of quarterbacks during his time as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator and one of the players Flynn reminds him of most is Carolina’s Jake Delhomme. McCarthy was the coordinator in New Orleans when Delhomme was a backup trying to make a name for himself. Flynn has had to work himself up from seventh-round-pick status and he’s done it with a sense of confidence. McCarthy noticed that quality when he was evaluating quarterbacks prior to the draft. “He plays the game with an edge,” McCarthy said. “He’s aggressive. Some people refer to it as moxie. We tend to forget he was a national champion at LSU last year. He was very productive in the offense.” http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=789670
Packers rave about Flynn's moxie http://www.lacrossetribune.com/articles/2008/09/04/sports/packers.txt
Re: Packers rave about Flynn's moxie Somehing we all knew but what a great attitude: ''I don't think I've ever once listened to what people say around me - what the media says, what fans say - good or bad,'' Flynn said. ''I've always been confident in myself. My ultimate career plan is to work my way up the hierarchy of quarterbacks and eventually be a starter in the NFL. ''I understand that it's a great opportunity. I understand that it's a good position to be in. But I also understand that I'm a rookie - and nothing's going to be given to me. I always knew my best football was in front of me. I felt I made some strides toward being a better quarterback this preseason, but I still have a lot of work to do, a lot of progressing to do. ''I'm going to give it my best, and we'll see
Re: Packers rave about Flynn's moxie there's prob a lotta people outside this forum that don't realize just how lucky we were to have him last year. guy is simply a winner and attitude like that coming from the QB position affects the whole team, there's a reason why he and Mauck led their team to championships.
Re: Packers rave about Flynn's moxie You're right. Imagine his first year as a starter at LSU (being behind the shadow of JR ),and coming up with the:crystal: He deserves the recognition. His confidence, smartness and calm demeanor are going to pay dividends.
