this stuff is great. brohm played against competition a couple notches below what flynn did and carried his team to--what? a 6-6 record?
Let's be fair about that...Brohm is a good QB. Louisville scored plenty of points last year but the defense was a wet paper bag. He can't go out there and make the stops, too. I think Green Bay has probably the two most talented QB's of last year's class. I've said from the beginning that if Flynn had been given the opportunity to start for three years, he would have been at minimum at second-rounder. His "lack" of playing time and his injuries in his only season as a starter made him the number one draft steal of the 2008 draft.
Flynn > Brohm. Flynn's been underrated ever since he's been around town, so who better to have as a sleeper. If he keeps his head in the playbook, he'll be fine. Plus, if you squint your eyes real hard, it almost looks like he's still playing for LSU. :hihi:
Flynn said: Flynn, meanwhile, wasn't particularly high on his performance — "As a rookie, first game, it's kind of hard to put a grade on it," he said, adding that he sees more of his mistakes than successes when watching film — and wasn't coming anywhere near a debate about the No. 2 job. "That's not for me to say," Flynn said. "I'm just going to go out there and play as hard as I can and let the coaches make decisions. I really am here to do what helps the team the most. If that's third-string, then that's going to be my job and I'm going to do that position proudly. I'm going to play it and give it my best and let the coaches make decisions on everything else." http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports//300375
He's the epitome of "team player". It'll work out for him. Even if he never starts a game, he'll make a solid backup for several years and live comfortably while avoiding the hits in live competition. Sounds like a sweet gig, sans the glory.
I agree completely. What an unselfish player, to bad more players don't have that same attitude. Before the fumble, I was 100% sure MF was going to get the packers in FG range..... :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
Tom Pelissero, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers QB Matt Flynn is challenging QB Brian Brohm for the No. 2 job. "I think Matt's definitely closing the gap, there's no doubt about it," head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday, Aug. 13. "I think he's really been pushing Brian here probably about the last eight to 10 days."
Could you imagine what Flynn could do with this team this year? If he were a returning starting QB, we'd be hands-down a consensus number one pick and for good reason. We would make the competition look like high-schoolers.
