WTF G Matt Derenbecker gets release from LSU basketball, considering Tulane Baton Rouge - Sophomore guard Matt Derenbecker has received his release from LSU and is free to explore transferring to another school, possibly Tulane, his father said late Monday. LSU announced earlier in the day that Derenbecker, a 6-feet-7 had withdrawn from school but his future was unclear. John Derenbecker said the paperwork for the release was completed Monday and that Tulane is one of the school's his son is considering. The elder Derenbecker said it was a difficult decision for the former Country Day star. "He grew up an LSU fan," John Derenbecker said. "When he became a Tiger he really fell into it. He wears it all on his sleeve. This has been an extremely hard day, harder than any of us realized, because it's so final. "We're going to spend the next week looking at what our options are. Classes start in the next two or three weeks in most places. We'll find something that provides a good fit for him athletically and academically. He does want to continue as a student athlete. That's a big part of who he is and what he wants to do." The elder Derenbecker said keeping his son close to home was important and that they "want to talk to Tulane to see what they have available." Bullchit. 4.0GPA and 28 ACT at Country Day along with scholarship offers to Stanford and Georgetown among others. I think Daddy is pulling him out because baby is partying a widdle too much.
... If he's partying a "widdle" too much then that seems like the perfect reason for him to leave. Clearly LSU is not the school for him, no need for sour grapes though.
