La Salle, as far as Mathieu being the best LSU player ever:

....at least Mel Kiper thinks so. :)

(Probably Dana Holgersen as well !!)

I can make the argument, and Cromartie isn't 5 nothing 1 nothing. Who in 2 years at a defensive position or special teams did more than Mathieu?

There's never been a player like him in college football for any team, and there may never be another. The closest that I've seen was Eric Berry, who was also coached by Chavis.

That Holy Cross guy in the 80s that played both ways was pretty special. I'm serious, btw, lol. Agree TM7 was special in college. Hopefully in the pros he will be another TPolamalu.

I know I need to get over it but it still makes me sick we did not see him on the field last year. Dude was just a human highlight reel on the field.

I'm really curious to see how he does at the next level. The way he handles things off the field will determine if I root for him (also the team that drafts him to a lesser extent).

In 2011, it was simply amazing how many times he was in the right place at the right time, making game changing plays again and again. While I know he would have made many more plays in 2012 if he were on the team, I honestly don't think it would have been possible to duplicate his production from the year before.

It will all come down to whether he continues forcing turnovers with a big plus if he can be a force in special teams.

I've said it before: I think the Honey Badger will be a Patriot before it's all said and done

You know, alot of people overlook his freshman season. He was a monster as 7 and 14.

I definitely remember him having a good (true) freshman year but just looked up his stats as a reminder. If I'm reading them correctly, he had 2 of his 5 forced fumbles (and one of his two recoveries) along with 1 of his 2 INTs on the year in the Cotton Bowl alone (MVP of game).

Therefore, if you consider the 2011 calendar year (Cotton Bowl played in Jan but BCS NC not until 2012), it may be the most remarkable "year" of college football I've ever seen. I can understand throwing a lot of TDs if your team has better players than your opponent week in and week out but how do you consistently make that many game changing plays?

Remember that he also had a big game against Oregon at Jerry World. Maybe the Cowboys need to draft him to team him up with Claiborne and that other good corner so that Mathieu can play his natural position of floating around and causing havoc.
