Some of you guys kill me. Surely you are not naive enough, or ill-informed to such an extent, to think this was purely about health care. Massachusetts already has a state system thanks to the leadership of, ahem…..a Republican governor. This defeat for the Dems was a result of utter disgust at the way Congress works or fails to work. It was disgust, and you might not believe this, with the Republicanization of Obama. He has resorted, both in the “bailouts” and in health care, to tried and true Republican tactics, back room deals, buying votes, loading up leadership groups with insiders from the industry in trouble. That is what the moderates and independents were voting against. The folks in Massachusetts were voting against penalties they would have to pay for already having a health care system to fund the “deals” cut to bring in Senators into the fold. They, like many of you, are disgusted. Leading up to last years elections, the majority of the American people wanted a big change in the direction that America had taken under “W.” Expectations were high. After a year, the results are all too familiar. The hard core Reps are still hard core Reps and the hard core Dems are still hard core Dems. The independents and moderates, those that want reasonable solutions have called BS. You (the governing party) elected based on an expectation of significant change has failed to deliver, therefore we are willing to go after plan C, or D, or keep trying until we find someone who will do what they say in the way that they say it (could be a long search.) But make no mistake, the health care delivery system is bad broke and needs to be fixed. That is opposed to passing a BS bill with something for everyone. Calls for reforming health care will not go away. Maybe next time a bill worth its weight will emerge…but I doubt it. If this is not a wake up call, that the government better start governing, as opposed to dealing, I do not know what is. That brings up a fundamental, strategic problem for the Dems. The “Intellectual Elite” is unlikely to admit they are wrong. This could prove to be a big mistake. Elitism at the highest level (limo liberals) has gotten the Dems in trouble in the past and could to be headed that way again. God Bless America. hwr
Let me clarify what I meant by my statement above. Most of the people in Mass voted against the policies of the Dems, Obama administration for many reasons including healthcare, economy, and the Chicago style gangster politics taken to Washington DC by Obama and his thugs. I just stated that most people in Massachusetts voted against all of this while you still are silent on all of the above. You didn't waste any time for 8 years, according to you for going after Republicans yet you are totally silent on the Dems for all that time not to mention the last few months. You still have defended this administration so you must be hell bent for all of this while moderates, independents, Republicans and even some democrats are now to the right of you by their stance and votes.
I'll tell you what this was about. This was about AMERICANS telling this congress that you cannot say "We're in power, we'll do whatever the hell we want to and screw you if you don't like it."
It couldn't be that. The people LOVE this health care bill. It had nothing to do with that. It is amazing that of all the time to swing to the right it would be now, of course there is no 'scientific" evidence to prove that it was in fact what you posted so it just couldn't be that. You must be wrong on this one amigo:lol:
This may be true, but I would opine a more accurate quote would be..."If an incumbent can loose a seat in Mass, he can lose one anywhere." And I know this was the late "Kennedy's seat." They basically are all the same, in it for themselves, once elected they are loyal to their party, not their people. Republicans will make as big a mistake as Democrats if they view this as a strictly a Republican and not THE PEOPLE'S VICTORY. hwr
heard pundits say coakley had all the disadvantages of incumbancy (hatred in a downturn) but none of the advantages (political clout). it didnt help her cause that she made several gaffes 1. curt schilling is a yankees fan 2. people with a moral dilemma over abortion should be in healthcare field. 3. i can see russia from my backyard 4. the taliban arent in afghanistan heard a boston reporter say that she'd rather eat crushed glass than campaign. never wouldve happened if kennedy would have run.
haha John Stewart hammered Olbermann on his BS.
Thats pretty funny. There is another thing this election proved. The outward disgust, complaining and crying on MSNBC left no question, no doubt and no debate that MSNBC with Olbermann, Maddow and Mathews is FAR more to the left then FOX is to the right. Olbermann may be the most trivial nit picking douche bag hypocrite ever known to media. His show boarders on being a satirical spoof. Its pure comedy. Im convinced the majority of his viewers watch to laugh AT him, not with him.
