Yes, there was. It specifically says "well regulated", which means regulations that fit current needs.

Who defines reasonable? Who defines military style? What the fuck does that even mean? Fully automatic weapons are outlawed already. Ammunition like military weapons use is already outlawed. The means to convert semi to fully automatic should be as well. If you know anything about guns the rest of the so called differences are cosmetic.
I pointed out earlier I know several people who own more than twenty guns each with a different purpose. Why is that too many? It's like how many pairs of shoes or cars or homes one owns....how many is too many????
One gun is enough to kill a lot of people. 20 guns can put no one in danger if stored and used correctly. Likewise as has been pointed out a car or truck or fertilizer + diesel can kill hundreds if someone has a mind to do so.
You want to control people's things as a means to controlling their actions. It doesn't, never has and never will work like that.

It appears that the NRA is going to be good with banning bump stocks. It is an easy compromise for them and addresses at face value what happened. Both the Dems and Reps also agree with the ban also. It is something everyone can get on board with.

The idea that we have to accept these events as a cost of freedom is lame and it will not hold up as more of them happen. People who argue that gun bans won't work but have no alternative will be ignored. Humans fix shit. If something doesn't work, we don't just say oh damn, that is just the way it is. Humans also can't handle their shit. Any fix will be tested and most likely circumvented by sick people. That is not an excuse to do nothing.

The whole problem in a nutshell is this: How do you identify the one nutjob in a population of 350 million people who is likely to explode during any given time period?

Habitual criminals are already in prison or should be. Those already identified as criminally insane are in mental institutions. The Vegas shooter was a from all accounts a model citizen.

I agree that we shouldn't just do nothing but reacting and doing the wrong thing is worse than doing nothing.

I had not even heard of a bump stock until this shit. I see no issue with banning them.
But now that I have seen one, I think anyone with some mechanical savy can build one. And I read that there is one that is like a jack in the box winder which would be even easier to build. They will be sold under a different purpose and still get to market.

I've used a bump stock. I've also used my belt loop. I figured that's what this guy had when I heard the weapon in the video. So I guess he had one and they want to ban them now? There will always be alternatives this is just feel good bullshit that won't prevent anything.

Belt loops will be banned next bc a little forward pressure and it works just the same.

    Or even from your shoulder

Which is a good argument for banning semi automatic weapons.
