Mary Landrieu's vote will cost tax payers $100 Million

She was going to vote against it. She was offered money. She voted for it.

She was bribed and she sold her vote. It doesn't matter where the money went. It's no different than the money in Jefferson's freezer.

 

You really believe there is no difference between taking $90,000 to put in your pocket and taking $300 million to cover a projected state budget shortfall?

We can start with the obvious: One is illegal and one is not.

You might as well say that there's no difference in paying for your items at the register or walking out with them hidden under your jacket. Better yet, there's no difference between the colors red and green. How about no difference between darkness and light? Ice and fire?

 

It's no different in the sense that a bribe is a bribe.

 

What exactly is wrong with a bribe? Businesses bribe customers with discounts on products in hopes that they'll spend money on other items. Parents bribe their children with money for good grades. Forum members are bribed with access to certain features in return for a financial contribution to offset server costs.

Politicians bribe other politicians to provide for their own constituents. It's the very nature of their job and if they don't do it, we elect someone else who will. Why? Because that's their job.

You can try to simplify this if you like. I can tell a lie to a friend and I can lie to a judge under oath. They're both lies, but they're not the same thing. Again the difference is that one is illegal and one is not...

 

Businesses and Parents are using their own money. Harry Reid is using my money.

 

Then stop giving him your money.

 

this is the attitude that ruins america.

we send representatives to enact the best policy, not to simply grab as much money as possible.

sometimes i also like to admit that when it comes down to it, i am basically a bad and selfish person. it is refreshing when someone else does it.

 

Don't worry. In fifteen minutes someone else will be along with a new attitude that ruins America.

Reality: The money is being collected. It's going to be distributed. You can either find a way to support the people you represent or someone else can find a way to support the people they represent. The smart choice is to help the people who elected you since that's why they elected you. Sometimes that's by making policy decisions and sometimes that's by sending pork back home.

I'll start giving a **** about the rest of America when they start giving a **** about Louisiana.

the government isnt there to help you. it isnt a device for you to use to take money from others. again, you atitude is the sort that ruins everything. and i am not exaggerating. your sort of thinking is the reason millions of people are worse off than they could be. because people believe that the government should be about getting as much as possible from others.

also LA receives 1.78 federal tax dollars for every dollar paid. how much more do they need before you determine that it is fair? i guess you assume the other states do not need that money, right? their taxpayers are bums.

Based on your comments you obviously have placed getting what you can ahead of ethics, morals, and values. That's your choice and more power to you.

That doesn't make the rest of us stupid or ignorant regarding how the government works.

According to your comments you shouldn't gripe about anything Republicans do. After all, they're only getting what they can. Correct?
