I was just reading through Scout.com and noticed that the nations top DT, Marvin Austin will be visiting LSU next month. Austin is ranked as the countries number two ranked overall prospect. He lists USC and FSU as his top choices. LSU is listed as being a low interest. That would be huge if LSU could somehow steal him.

I heard he recently did an interview and didn't mention LSU in his top 5.

He has not been on my radar. I would say our chances of getting him would be very remote.

I agree with you guys, I dont see LSU having much of a shot. Although he is willing to visit, so hopefully there is an outside shot at him. I mean no one thought we had much of a shot at Barksdale either. Now some are saying he is all LSU.

It doesn't hurt in him visiting LSU and getting the word out to the D.C. area if he enjoys his visit.

Well a good visit can change a lot of things, so we'll see. If we're getting Barksdale we have our stud DT for the next few years.

I dont think so, because a lot of times these kids dont pan out. So if that were the case that a 4 and 5 star, stud dont quite live up to expectations you need a backup. Plus you need depth. When you have a lot of depth it keeps players fresh for games and during the season. If you are good enough, a good coach will find a way to get you on the field. Having so much depth has really helped USC during their recent run of greatness. Plus the OL is even more difficult to project. Surplus DL may be converted to the OL.

I doubt we have a shot at Austin, but no way can he be turned down.
