I wonder if Robert M will finally dress out too bad Adrian A is injured. I dont think it will be that bad with the type of offense the Saints run.
I was thinking the same thing, he really needs to concentrate on catching the ball first. He could be a top flight receiver with this speed and size.
Adrian Arrington is on injured reserve, so Meachem is the next receiver in line. Look for good things out of him this year. I'm sure most of you have heard that he did a lot of grueling workouts with Patten in the offseason. It looked like the workouts were paying off when I went to Jackson for training camp this year. Devery also looked like he had improved, surprisingly. Don't forget that they will still have Shockey out there. Also, apparently they put Hollis Thomas on IR.
Not good news at all. Glad WR was one of our deeper positions, now its up to guys like Devery and Meachem to step up and play up to their potential. Hopefully with all the other weapons we have, this won't put too much pressure on the younger receivers. I'm looking for David Patten to step up and be even more of a leader for the receivers in the mold of Joe Horn from 3-5 years ago.
2 years ago we lost both Colston and Horn for a few weeks at a time (at different times) and we thought oh my god that ain't good. It appeared it didn't matter who we put on the field, the passing game was going to be successful. I look for similiar results in this case (as long as the protection up front is good, of course). Robert Meachem, let's go. Earn your keep
will be interesting to see if meachem can make an impact because its clear devery cannot be relied upon game to game much less as an every down receiver. where is terrance copper. look for reggie bush to continue to get 10 receptions per game and have pretty sick receiving numbers with colston out. if only he could run without falling down when someone sneezes. or avoid the out of bounds line.
Saints need to get out of denial and line him up in the slot. He will never run effectively tween the tackles. Having said that, I guess lining him up in the backfield makes the defense at least have to think about him running.
