In 2001 Nebraska didn't play in the Big12CG but did go up against Miami in the title game. Okie State got jobbed last season because the human polls decided to make who you lost to more relevant than who you actually beat.
The decision not to spike the ball was bad, IMO. But I don't think the pass Murray threw was intended for the guy who caught it. He was going for the outside receiver, who was running to a point just inside the pylon. The ball was tipped at the line to the inside receiver, who I will grant should have been headed for the end zone as well rather than being where he was.
If we're going to talk clock mismanagement, how about Saban's mismanagement at the end of the first half, which cost him a likely TD, causing him to settle for a FG, instead. There were plenty of coaching gaffes to go around in that game--but of course, they are only blown out of proportion when Miles does them.
Bc Murray was dicking around especially on the prior play and ran off way too much time. And the refs started the clock really fast and he was never in position. This ones on him.
Not really. To play the devil's advocate, and yes, Satan(oops), Saban, is indeed the devil, coaches get roasted when the clock mismanagement costs his team the game. Saban's screw up didn't cost his team the game, unfortunately. No harm no foul, you know.
If UGA scored, instead of getting stopped on the 3 yard line, Saban's gaffe would have cost him the game. It is what it is.
