just a suspicion, but I'm guessing that some of the angst that people have with Richt goes back to last season's attempt to justify why UGA should've been in the BCSC, but we all recognize the lameness of that argument. Saturday's play by Moreno, a Heisman front-runner, was clearly worthy of a top 10 highlight, regardless of what network you choose to get your CFB news from. It wasn't the first time ESPN has made a mistake and it won't be the last. I've heard similar criticisms from nearly every HC in the top 20 at one time or another ..... it's really no big deal. On a personal note, I have met Richt briefly on several occasions and he always leaves a good impression. Trust me, I didn't want to like him at all, but he's a class-guy, IMHO.
Yes, Richt will have that stuck to him for a long time. Since his credibility is damaged, people will question any complaints he airs through the media. Mack Brown has the same problem.
The play wasn't that remarkable, it was a nice display of physical ability. But it was a 29-yard run. To get that far, something nice has to happen. Should we start showing every nice run a back has on ESPN highlight reels because they had great blocking and they have physical prowess? This is modern NCAA football. If you start at halfback at an SEC school, that kind of ability is expected. Richt probably wouldn't have brought it up if asked, though.
It was a nice move, although against a bunch of scrubbs. Here's to hoping he tries that same move on RJF. :hihi:
I think Richt is probably the nicest guy in the league and I still don't care one bit. He is fostering a whiny attitude. It was a great play no doubt, but the coach of the supposed "best team in America" has nothing better to do than whine about his player not making sportscenter? I hope Moreno does try a similar move against our safeties. I would love to see how Coleman, Taylor or Jones(Chad or Phelon) react. Something tells me that will make sportscenter, but I doubt Richt will want to watch it.
