Hell NO for Richt. IF he was that good at calling plays he would not have burned through several OC's just to save his job the last 8 years. What about the UGA football playcalling makes anyone think Richt would be an upgrade? I also don't think he would go somewhere as an OC vs a HC.
I would much rather go after someone like Jeff Brohm at WKU than Henson. IMO, WKU was the best offensive team we played all season and I think Brohm is a real up and comer.
That's the thing though, we learned that Alleva has no power. It's all on the President, and he wasn't even willing to pay for a new nutritional program or something like that that I just heard about, they are gonna get the cheapest person they can.
According to a guy on BOL, Kirby Smart will be announced as soon as tomorrow for UGA and he's allegedly taking Bama's WR coach and strength coach with him. Pruitt will stay as DC. Again, this is just a message board guy so don't shoot the messenger.
This hire isn't going to be about cheap, it's going to be about control. With the way this was handled and Miles now clearly being untouchable he's going to change the name of the OC only. IF that even happens. Miles will hire someone that will run his offense and do exactly as told.
I think he will get a better HC job in the next few years, but OC for 2-3 years at LSU would certainly be better than HC at WKU or a move up to HC at Virginia or a school like that? I jus thought after watching him over the last two seasons at WKU, he "gets it" where a modern offense is concerned: still can be run centric and spread the field without selling out to the "read option"
Besides Miles' desire to run and control HIS offense there is another factor that limits the pool of willing candidates. "Serving as Miles’ offensive coordinator is the closest thing to career suicide you can get in football."
I can't disagree. He is stubborn. Tell a guy he can't run on Bama and he is going to try to run on Bama. But, now that he has been spanked in public, and realizes his job may actually be on the line, you think that he may attempt to hire an OC and loosen the reigns at all?? (I am not holding my breath on that at all, just posing the question)
The smart money says no and he pretty much made that a guaranteed bet in his post game press conference. Add in the fact that Alleva has now been neutered and that Miles truly believes his offense is great and what do you think?
