I have to say the Coach Miles literally had one foot out the door in the '04 Alamo Bowl. I'm sure it wasn't his best coaching effort, and in fact, was probably one of the reasons that LSU fans were tepid (at best) with his hire. As for Coach Miles' "let 'er rip" personality, I have to feel like that's one of the reasons that we crazy Cajuns like him. People in south Louisiana are kind of crazy and say what they think when they think it. A conservative guy like Tressel probably wouldn't go over so well here.
Heh, crazy cajuns. Yeah Tressel is probably a bit too buttoned up for y'all, but he usually lets it rip a bit in big games. Also, I don't expect a repeat of that Alamo Bowl performance, it was merely an answer to that particular topic. I'd sooner expect the crazy gambling to be a factor, really.
Maybe I'm the one that is crazy. But, I don't see all of his calls as that crazy. If you take them out of context his go for it or some of the play calling may seem crazy. But in the heat of the game (UF for example) I don't think anyone in the stadium disagreed with going for it on 4th down, ever. The players, fans and coaches just knew we were going to get it. After a while when it added up, it looked a little reckless, but not at the game. Against UK, we did not have any choice. Down by 7 on 4th down, you have to go for it. Against Auburn, there is no way the clock runs out if that pass was incomplete. I promise you we would have had time to kick the field goal. Hell in the mid 70s we got 3 plays off in 13 seconds. We don't call it home cooking for nothing. Plus the pass was a player and Crowton's call. THey saw something and took a shot. It worked out and people still second guess. My only issue with this team (coaching wise) is that guys don't know where the hell to line up. Damn Early, you are a Senior and yet get called for it all the time. This has to change. Don't mind the aggressive penalties. Don't like it, but its the stupid penalties that kill drives and make me crazy. This team is well coached and all will find out. When the game is on the line and these guys really focus, I'll take our coaches and players over anyone in the country.
