I know we have some Bama haters on here, but you have to admit that Ingram is a stud back. To me, he is the best player in college right now. I have not been paying much attention to the Heisman hopefuls so far, but he seems like he should be a leader. Bradford is out again, McCoy isn't doing anything great, Tebow is solid, not great this year, and Jacori will not get it. Don't follow Pac-1, or Little 10 much, so not sure about players in those leagues. Ingram looks to be the man to me.

    Others agree?

Ryan Williams of VT and Dion Lewis of Pitt (both freshman!!) are studs as well. Jacquizz Rogers of Oregon St is putting up some crazy numbers. Case Keenum of Houston is my fav at this point.

Interestingly enough, as good as Ingram is (and having Upchurch as well), this Bama football program saw fit to get Richardson out on that field as a true freshman and he has paid big dividends.

Totally different mindset out there in Bama land I 'spose.

kind of has me scratching my head also. I don't give a damn about red shirts, put the best players on the field if they can us now.

You would think all head coaches have that mindset.

    You would think.

You can thank the coaching change at Michigan for Ingram looking around as a recruit. He took four or five visits. I remember he came to Iowa in December of his senior year. We thought it was between us and Michigan State.

    Then Saban did his thing.

I thought he had a bad ankle injury in the first half. Was surprised to see him return.

But I wouldn't label him the best. A lot of talent out there.

Yeah, those are all very good players doing very well right now.

My money is still on Ingram. He looks to be a motivated player performing well on a motivated team performing well. Dude had 246 yds last night with >100 coming after contact. When was the last time an SEC back had 200+ yds against an SEC opponent?

He should be going up for Heisman consideration IMHO.

On another note, the adjustment to a lack of passing game to the running game and wildcat formation by Saban is something that I wish LSU would do. Much like alot of people wished CLM saw that Miami NY game, I hope Miles paid close attention to this one. Both in terms of offensive adjustments and turning ALA into a 1 dimensional team in addition to if LSU's offense is not doing it on the passing front, wildcat the hell out of the opposing team...we have the personnel for it.

Mark Ingram Jr.'s father is WR Mark Ingram (who Bill Parcells' Giants took with their 1st Round draft pick in 1987). Mark Ingram, Sr. was at Michigan State the same time Saban was there as DC/DB coach ('83-'87). Being that Saban and Mark Ingram, Sr. are friends, it is not surprising that Mark Ingram, Jr. went to play for Saban's team.
