On the Bama board, they say no. They say he is just coming to visit some friends of his on the team. I'd like to get one back for the Luther Davis incident last year.
2 Bama commits made it to campus this weekend, Baron and Hood. There is a very slim chance we land Barron. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080127/SPORTS0202/801270308/1001/SPORTS
We are as good as even with the Corley incident last year. I bring that up for one point, Tony Jones is the one that drove Corley to LSU last year and he's the one driving Barron this weekend. That's a cloudy relationship. It'll be excused because Jones coached him in middle school, but having a son on the team and driving a recruit to his visit raises eyebrows.
Not sure what to make of Barron, but I'd love to get him in this class. Supposedly Saban wants him as a Safety while we see him as an OLB. I wonder if that could make a difference.
He looks like a good fit for a safety position...comparing his role in a 3-4 vs a 4-3 he would work in either. For any school, it's nice to have a kid who can play so many positions. FWIW, on the OC position, that looks to be coming to a close if the arrangements are worked out today.
Thinking about an earlier post...Corley was more of a Florida lean than Bama...not a good example. Mea culpa.
Corley was a UF commit, but then decommitted & Bama was considered the favorite. Then LSU came in & got him.
Not a good example for more than one reason. Corley never committed to Bama...never lied about a visit to another school...and never had his scholly yanked for doing so. :thumb:
Corley was never, ever, ever going to Bama.. Plus Tony Jones wouldn't let it happen anyways. Much like he is trying to do with some other people.
