^^^Bravo. I was having a conversation with a 20 something year old guy who recently moved to Alabama from California. I asked if marijuana was as open there as it is depicted on some movies and TV shows. He told me it pretty much was. He also added, "One day", referring to Bible-belt states adopting the same stance or the feds decriminlizing it. I told him maybe in his lifetime not mine. I may have to rethink my statement.

You are too cynical. Seat belt are not about money. You a a lunatic if you don't wear one. The government would prefer you just wore one so they didn't have to fine you.

Oh but it is about money. I agree that it makes good sense to wear a seatbelt, but don't for one second believe that insurane companies' bottom line isn't the main driving force behind making it a rule.

This. I am walking, living proof that the ganja is not an impediment to driving skills. In fact, I am generally a more focused and hyper aware driver when stoned because I am always certain that the set of headlights in my rear view mirror is a cop car that is suspicious that I just burned a fatty.

i dont agree, i think in general people want to control other people and make them follow best practices. this is a bad thingof course, even whe, like in thoise case, the thing we are being forced to do is surely a smart idea. but i am aware that just because something is a good idea, that doesnt mean we should force it on people.

The seat belt law isn't because they care. There's far too many contradicting things which prove that's never the issue. It's cute to think they care though.

You only think you are NC. In fact many think they drive better or at least more carefully while drunk. Too many tests show intoxication inhibits judgement and reaction. It includes booze, pot and other drugs.

Look I am all for legalizing the stuff both for medical and recreational use but like booze it needs regulation primarily for safety. During prohibition how many went blind or were killed from bad booze? Answer a lot and too many. Likewise there is some bad weed out there spiked with who knows what. Yes I know all of you get primo stuff as did those who knew how got good booze in the 30's but many don't and get it from risky sources.

Another safety issue is the distribution path. This is the primary reason to legalize it (besides I like a little too). End the underground trade and get it out of the hands of the drug cartels. The past shows that private enterprise beats criminal behavior in sales and distribution every time. With the reduction of illeagal trade the claim and fact that it is made a gateway drug to harder shyte will be wiped out. It is ONLY a gateway drug because of where it is purchased.

I think as with other legal substances private employers will still be able to screen for it. However if enough people toke it won't be worth it to screen as long as you dont appear high at work. In critical services like pilots, long haul drivers, emergency workers etc they will still be able to prohibit use.

Finally this will be a test of BHO & the Dems. What will they do? If they follow their criminal thuggish crackdown on medical dispensaries they will be shown to be the hypocrits and jackels I think they are. Sorry about taking the chance to jump you comment to get on my soapbox NC.

No worries my friend....in fact, I agree with you. I was being a little facetious in my previous post but you have pointed out some serious issues that will need to be addressed. Now that you mention it I wonder if they will have the FDA inspecting crops the same way they would if it were lettuce or beans?

Another great point is how with BHO and his admin handle this. It's no secret I am a supporter of BHO but I have adamantly opposed his crackdown on dispenseries on the west coast. I will be severely disappointed if they try to crack down in Washington and Colorado after the people of those states have expressed their will.

I am afraid they will crackdown harder. It is a matter of control my friend. BHO and the Dems want to control everything and they don't control these dispenseries. It is a snapshot of why I didn't support him in spite of the fact MR was a tool.

With the Fiscal Cliff looming, and the debt the way it is... the only good thing the Dems could is to legalize cannabis and tax it.
