I am discouraged at how few seniors Brady has ever coached. The stars leave early for the NBA, the benchwarmers quit, the disgruntled (WAY too many!) transfer and much of the rest flunk out. Brady has had too many Jaime Lloreda's that stick for a year and too few Collis Temples that play for four. We end up shorthanded too often, like this year.
definately. id like to see a breakdown of his players, because im curious about the low grad rate. how many seniors has he had that didnt graduate? got a list?
This was my point in another thread the other day. Brady recruits and takes chances with kids and often loses such as Lloreda, Shawnee Johnson and Tack Minor. Kids that aren't well grounded and have character issues. LSU football once had some of these same types of kids under Dinardo. Its hard to build a foundation when kids like this come along and knock a block out from under it. Some may argue that there may be a few of these, honestly I don't remember how many of these players have been on the team but everytime they act out or quit the team the team has hit the skids, Lloreda's last year, Tack last year as well, etc. Red is right though, too few seniors ever make it on Brady's teams. If you have that senior leadership, go to guy, etc, it could help you go along way and you have less depth issues. When was the last time Brady had no depth problem? Maybe Stromile's last year?
Well, whether Brady is there next year or not, we're looking at a bunch of seniors, correct? Farrar, C. Johnson, T. Martin, Taz Mitchell, M. Thornton, Q. Thornton. Any of these making noise about not coming back?
and temple. great news--they cant transfer (to DI at least), and none will get drafted. i know, i know, cjb will probably cause each of them to develop "serious" plantar fasciatis and quit with 4 games left in their senior seasons.
To be technical, Farrer is a redshirt sophomore, and Tas' with the injury will seek a medical redshirt year and be a junior next year. Our seniors will be Temple, the Thorntons, Martin and Chris Johnson. What kills me about this "depth" issue, is that honestly, this year without the injuries would have been a year with depth. And, what also is ironic, is that folks that complain about depth, probably also complain about talent. I mean to be fair to Brady, he HAS gone out and recruited guys like Farrer, Chris Johnson, Garrett Temple. Folks who have come here stuck it out and will play four years. I was probably one of those that complained about Farrer getting a schollie, but here's a kid that came here out of AZ, went to the final four, has bided his time, now is getting decent minutes, and I fully expect him to be a contributing senior guard two years from now. Likewise, CJ is a kid that noone knew of, and by next year, if the kid puts on some weight works hard in the weight room and improves his game, can be a serious contributor playing along side Morgan, Randolph and Tas'. But, the folks that are complaining about lack of depth are probably pinging Brady for signing guys like them.
Crunch I would highly doubt it. Farrar is not a senior next year. Johnson is not going to sit out a year just to play 1 more year so he will stay. Martin the same as Johnson same on both Thorntons. Tas we will have 2 more years b.c he is going to get a medical read **** this year. So yea we will have those guys back next year. With what we got comming in +those guys its going to be pretty sweet I think.
TGER well said and I agree 100%. Both Farrer and Johnson can do nothing but get better and I think they will. Your right on the ones who cripe about Brady getting these guys but they are also the people who hate Brady no matter what he does or does not do. These kind of people are never going to give him credit for anything. Its really sad. With all that said do you think it is time for a coaching change and if so who would you like LSU to hire?
give him another year & see how he does with the new guys & depth & hopefully get another good recruiting year for 09. Brady should know by now that playing recruits enough to keep them happy is very important - to his depth & coaching longivity at LSU..
