That is a nice side step by adding the innocence but it doesn't change your claim. There are other purposes in hunting, killing cows, chickens, wolves, etc., other then solely the torture of those animals. I personally don't know any hunters that do not eat everything that they kill.

No, I will just arrest them now, since it is illegal in every state. I will leave it to you to teach criminals to move on to greater crimes.

Wrong on so many levels, but let's just focus on the most obvious. One is fantasy, and one is real. Criminals don't learn sociopathic behavior from video games or from movies despite what Tipper Gore might say. If there was real evidence to support this, games would be banned.
True, but you don't get to pick what laws to break with impunity. If you don't like it, start a nation wide campaign to legalize dogfighting. I wish you luck with that.

there are lots of sport/trophy hunters. should they be arrested? why not?

am i a sociopath for enjoying a fight between two fish? how smart/cute/charming does the animal need to be before i am a criminal?

again, i ask are you saying that because dog fighting indicates a person is a sociopath they should be arrested? merely being a sociopath is illegal? a mental state is illegal?

we are not talking about what i can get away with, we are talking about what i should or should not get away with.

"because it is illegal" is not a reason something is wrong. it is a reason you will get arrested, but that has nothing to do with morality.

    2 questions:

who is the victim of this crime?

what specific rights does the victim have that were violated?

Because it isn't illegal. If you think this is unfair, start your campaign.

You used the exact same argument before and it is still laughable. Animals in the wild(fish are not domesticated) that would fight each other as nature intended is perfectly fine. Destroying a breed in order to stage fights between animals is inhumane. It's a fairly easy concept.

Where did I say this? Read the post next time. In case you didn't get the memo, dogfighting is illegal. What it is indicative of is sociopathic behavior. Allowing illegal dogfighting can encourage sociopaths to commit further more violent crimes.

That is incorrect. Laws are exactly based upon a community's morality, and it's willingness to enforce it. The fact that dogfighting is illegal means the majority of our communities believe it to be immoral, even if you don't.

The victim is your morals and your morals have the right to be morally correct.

    the dogs that were killed
    none.

your point? do you have to hurt a thing that has their rights violated to be considered a felon?

I am sure you are trying to bait me into saying the dogs, but of course animals have no particular rights, per se. The actual victim is the community and it's right to set it's own moral/legal codes. Violent, sociopathic, illegal activities endanger the community as a whole and therefor, most people frown upon them. It's no mystery that the individuals arrested with Vick were not considered upstanding members of the community.

    1 Question:

I killed lots of dogs in an inhumane manner, which btw was against some laws. Is this worse than killing a deer with the license I purchased by the state that funds many important projects with the money I gave them and went through a class to understand how to do everything I can by law?

i agree, the victim is the community. our collective feelings. and my response to that is to advise you that if your feelings are hurt, then do not look.

i am aware that the meat i eat was once a pig that was happy to be alive. if you make me go to the slaughterhouse i wouldnt be that excited to see the process. as a human, i have evolved with a propensity towards empathy. i have unpleasant feelings when i see a fellow being struggle. that doesnt mean i should not eat pigs. it means i should either not pay attention, or shift my perspective to not care about slaughter, like a farmer.

those activities only endanger the community when they are actually committed against the human community, not against dogs.

again, the fact that guys were thugs is not relevant.

i think they are both the same. i kill neither deer nor dogs, because i am not into that, but i do not hold against you if you like to kill deer or dogs. your values are not the same as mine, and your business is your business as long as i am not involved.

when i asked who were the victims:

how can the dogs be victims if they have no rights? if they have no rights they are just like a desk or a bicycle.
