when commenting on mike vick, he said:

“We don’t say anything about people shooting deers and shooting other animals," said Marbury. "You know what I mean? From what I hear, dog-fighting is a sport. It’s just behind closed doors and I think it’s tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down. I think he’s one of the superb athletes and he’s a good human being. I think he fell into a bad situation.”

it's clear these guys just don't find anything wrong with what they're doing and that is really scary.

I like Marbury for his shoes, but I'm considering adding him to the official "NLMD Doesn't Like This Guy" list.

Of course, it looks like he's falling into the same pit as a lot of other ignorant people that simply can't grasp some concepts.

You know, if I didn't live in the south I would probably buy that, but I am not so sure. I think it goes far deeper than just untouchable athletes. Sadly, dog fighting pervades the south and to me, that is just mind boggling. I know it is a part of several different cultures but for the most part, this country is just not as brutal as it was 100 years ago. It would be nice to think we have socially evolved, but when you hear people defending Vick, even now, you have to realize how prevalent this behavior really is.

Looking at the public outcry over this situation and the puzzled response of so many athletes, is disheartening to me. So many people really don't have a problem with it at all.

This alone is bad enough but it seems like there’s always some controversy surrounding him.

Sure everyone knows the "Ron Mexico" story, the obscene gesture to Saints fans after the Falcons loss in the Georgia Dome, and the water bottle incident at Miami International Airport.....never hear those kinds of stories about them Manning boyz eh tirk? :hihi:

Replace South with the black culture.

It is a black person thing. White people have had their hobbies and interests that have been absurd as well.

Not sure that is accurate. Plenty of white guys and Latinos engage in that stuff in Houston. I am sure that is the case in other parts of the south as well. I think it has more to do with mindsets, culture, education, poverty, etc. Don't really see it along race lines.

You're right there, Dude. It's not a racial thing, it just comes across like that given the current coverage.
