The way i originally read "passed" was McCarron making homosexual passes at Teo, trying to get Teo interested in him, and that had me laughing You're meaning is probably funny too

Dude is a major college football star and could get all the poon-tang he wanted in South Bend but he has a long distant girlfriend who he is "faithful" to instead? Screams of homosexuality......nothing wrong with it....just tell the truth.
I am not sure I would come out if I was gay on a football team. The negative stigma, the chance at losing friends, losing playing time etc. I mean I'm glad I don't have that problem ........ I can't play football. Not gay either, just saying

That's basically what is going on with the hot model-caliber Auburn chick that made McCarron her bitch to further her own fame. McCarron is from Alabama and a product of old-school Catholic and Episcopal/Anglican schools. So no way McCarron is coming out of the closet. He and his center, Barrett Jones have a "squeal like a pig" in-the-closet homo relationship going on, but with Barrett playing the QB, and McCarron the center. McCarron loved how Barrett made him "squeal like a pig" and how he could trust Barrett to keep it a secret, but hated how Barrett was fat and had such a massive tool/loser personality (which is forgiveable because that is cool in redneck Alabama AND Barrett was a highly decorated national celebrity for his on-the-field play). Enter Teo, the exotic Hawaii/Mormon with the "15 on a scale of 1 to 10 personality" (as the most-probably gay Mel Kiper announced to the world today), and McCarron falls into a massive gay crush on him. Teo fills his head with a Happily Ever After story about how the McCarron and Teo gay marriage will be more watched and more romantic than the Prince William wedding with Kate...but McCarron just couldn't go through with it, something that he is still privately crying himself to sleep over today (but he'll get over it as the years go by)
