That's flying over his property, while his daughter is sunbathing, and the drone had a camera. Kentucky has arrested this man and he is being charged... Wtf? I would have blasted that sumbitch too. How is this guy in the wrong when this thing is directly over his property with a camera?
No drone hunting license? I would have done the same thing even though unless you live out in the country it's against the law to shoot firearms in almost every neighborhood. Those laws were made years ago before anybody could anticipate drones.
Should he be able to shoot at airplanes over his property, too? He does not own airspace. If he felt threatened by the drone, he should have called the police. He endangered people by shooting up into the air. Bullets come down somewhere. And then he brandished guns and threatened to shoot the guys that came to find their drone. The drone operators may have been irresponsible with their aircraft. But the shooter was irresponsible with a deadly weapon. He can't take the law into his own hands.
A paintball gun is a great non-lethal way to deal with a low flying drone. But still, calling the police is still the best way to ultimately solve the problem.
He shot it with a shotgun didn't he? And an airplane is a lot different than a peeping tom's camera flying over your kid and watching her sunbathe.
So what? That frees him from the law? he should have called the cops. He doesn't know what the drone was doing. The owners said they were surveying another property nearby. The guy just used that for an excuse to shoot it--public endangerment. He took the law into his own hand and is being self-righteous about it. The article said he saw it flying around and waited until it crossed over his property to shoot it.
So if you saw a drone flying 10 to 15 feet above your daughter filming her on your property you wouldn't blast that fucker?
If it's low enough I'd just chuck a football or a baseball at it. That will take it down and the public is not endangered.
