a good perspective that I thought you might enjoy: Coach Malzahn breaks down Alabama's defense - YouTube
Thanks. I agree that spreading Bama out and keeping them on their heels in the most important key. With Jefferson's ability to run, we need to make their safeties and linebackers stay back some out of the box. Give Jefferson multiple options on each play. If he ever notices a gap, take it and whatever yards you can get. No huddle as well. We've got to keep the pace up and not let Saban get too good a read on formation to make changes before the play.
Remember when JL ran the option and read option after the Alabama game? He did it pretty well. It would be interesting to see it against the gumps. A surprise that may break something (not JL). Also it may reduce the pressure if he passes. I also think delivering a lick rather than taking one flat footed would help him. I thought he looked better after he ran (in the Ole Miss game?). Yes I know the chances of JL getting in barring JJ colasp or injury are slim, but you never know with Les.
Jarvis Landry should see the field alot Monday due to his blocking abilities. If you want to run the option your wide receivers must block, so look for alot of James Wright, Jarvis Landry, and the double R of course. Those guys should have no problem blocking the corners of Alabama.
They should have shown film from this years game, when barn found the end zone only one time. If you have the players, many things look easy. Remember, barn scored one TD by stripping the ball and a recovery in the EZ. In the SEC, barn finished 4-4. I did enjoy GM's take on the game.
Go sideline to sideline on this team. Their LBs are too slow. The read option will be just as effective the 2nd time around. Don't run up the gut. At all. They are simply too strong there. Throw some quick passes (hitches, slants, WR screens). Delayed QB runs up the middle.
We will need DeAngelo Peterson and Chase Clement to man up against that linebacker corps in blocking and making big catches.
