Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico I am curious why Mallory has not yet accepted the NM job. Does not sound like he wants to leave.
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico Only 2 reasons. A) he isnt leaving. B) waiting for a better offer.
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico or C) he has taken the NM offer under the terms that it won't be made public until after the bowl game D) he has decided to quit coaching football all together after this season ends
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico There are far higher priorities for Miles than what some impatient fans think. Recruiting -- we would have been down two coaches during the recruiting season. Bowl game -- we would have been down two coaches during bowl game preparations. Former coaches -- there are coaches (Nick) who cut loose coaches ruthlessly and there are coaches who try to find their coaches good positions (Les). New coaches -- The top candidates already have jobs and may be coaching in bowl games or the NFL playoffs and don't need any distractions yet.
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico Stop already with the rational thought. You're ruining a perfectly good hand-wringing.
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico i only need one answer for all four of these things and it is "wrong." 1. if he was honest about the coaches looking for new jobs it doesn't mean that they would have had to leave immediately. (mallory wasn't much in recruiting anyway) 2. if he was honest about the coaches looking for new jobs it doesn't mean that they would have had to leave immediately. (pellini was gone before the national championship, still coached) 3. if he was honest about the coaches looking for new jobs it doesn't mean that they would have had to leave immediately. (this one doesn't need added support) 4. if he was honest about the coaches looking for new jobs it doesn't mean that they would have had to leave immediately. (this one also doesn't need added support) what all of you are missing in this is that everyone involved in this has known what was going to happen all along. nothing different from arky to now would have happened in the administration of this team regardless. outside of the administration (recruiting, fans) things would have been different however, and maybe less future damage would have come out of it. there is still nothing to support the idea that being outright dishonest is somehow a good thing.
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico How has he been dishonest? He has said things would change, but he never said they would change before the bowl. And with at least the departure of BDP, things will change. We live in an instant gratification world, and the lag time between the season and the bowls is one of the worst examples. Sure, Miles doesn't tell us everything, but why should he, especially if he has someone lined up that would prefer to remain anonymous for now. All you have to do is look at the reactions for both Saban and Petrino coming back to the SECW. Announcing early got Petrino in trouble and delaying the announcement got Saban in trouble. I don't see a way to win there. Miles doesn't give out information freely. That's just the way he is, but it doesn't mean he is dishonest. By now, we should be used to it. GEAUX TIGERS
Re: Mallory may be gone to New Mexico Says Who? You? You never want a fired coach handling your recruits--never ever--are you crazy? :insane: And that coach resigned and had a new job waiting didn't he? Just like Peveto and Mallory now do. Duuuh! Of course they do! When you're fired you are history and you don't coach in bowl games. You clear out and you leave. A wild-ass guess on your part. What damage? Some impatient fans who don't understand the business are offended that the head coach doesn't publicize every thing he is thinking. Don't you realize he is dealing with other people futures here and that most candidates don't want their current schools to know they are considering leaving? Things fall through sometimes and people get left with egg on their face. Just look at Tenuta and Herbstreight last year, who thought they knew everything that was going on with Miles and Michigan. . . but they didn't. :hihi: What dishonesty? Has Les lied to anybody? No! What he's done is keep private personnel business to himself, as most good managers do and as LSU lawyers insist. You are offended that Les hasn't made all of his business public so that you can feel all warm and fuzzy. I think you don't understand integrity when you see it. :dis:
