Ryan Mallet, 5 star QB & freshman at Michigan is transferring to UCLA, according to this article.

    http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080103/DEVELOPINGNEWS/307973104

This isn't LSU related, but there were some Tiger fans talking about him possibly transferring to LSU (unsupported), so there is some connection.

Guess this means Pryor is going to be a Wolverine, and it is probably best for everybody. Rodriguez won't have to adapt his system & Mallet will be in an offense that fits his skill-set.

Not too surprised by this. John Wienke, rival 13th ranked pro set QB out of Illinois (#9 on Illinois top 30 players list) recently dropped his commit to Michigan and verballed to Iowa.
The Wolverines are headed towards a whole new look, maybe quicker than they had planned!!

Good to see a fairly high profile recruit de-commit and commit to Iowa. I've had a lot of respect for your program--even before our Cap One bowl.

I thought Mallett played in a shotgun offense in high school, and if that were true, then RRod's offense shouldn't be that much of a stretch for Mallett.

UCLA still doesn't have an OC, so I don't know if Mallett would want to go there in such a situation unless his OC or QB coach from Michigan is also going to UCLA too.

Ah, but Neuheisel is known as an Offensive Savant so he may not need one. Seriously, he needs to get on the stick. ucla has got some solid QB commits already so even if Mallet doesn't go, the stable needs some tending.

Me neither. I don't think this guy was ever "embraced" by the UM faithful, right or wrong. Now that the system's changin', gotta figure he might be lookin' around.

You mean like how Brian Billick was known as an Offensive Savant. :D

I heard Slick Rick wants Norm Chow as his OC. If UCLA can't beat USC, then it can try to copy it- Dwayne Walker, former assistant coach at SC and Norm Chow, former OC at SC.

Neuheisel might as well try to go after Ed Orgeron as well.

If June Jones can't come to $$ terms with UH, Chow will be THE candidate, finally. It's a job and atmosphere that suits him well. He won't be an OC under Neuheisel.

DeWayne has a lot of upside but he got most of his attention for beating USC last year. This season he lost some he shouldn't have..........like ND at home.

I think CEO will end up in the NFL.

Not sure how you figure that to be true. RR's offense operates from the shotgun, yes, but Mallett is a pure pocket passer....there's NO running in "his game".

RR's offense is based around the run from the shotgun. I don't think Mallett is a good fit in that offense at all.

Mallett's going to be a 1st rounder. He has everything the NFL wants. It's been a while since I've seen a true freshman QB who seemed relaxed in the pocket.
