He's got all the tools except one. Make that two - BALLS! And I'm not talking about the oblate spheriod kind. I'm talking about the kind even Tom Brady can't deflate. The ones you were born with
Were we watchug the same game? I saw him hanging his head and looking disgusted. He may have gone through the motions of doing the right thing by high fiving Etling but when the camera caught him in the bench you could tell he knew he had lost his job. Watch him turn up the whining a notch when he begs Les to start him again. I would never play him again. If something happened to Etling I would pull the shirt off Lindsay Scott.
That's what I saw. Seemed to me he was pouting/disgusted over being benched, and maybe the booing got to him. Being booed by the home team fans has to suck. I don't think Harris is a selfish kid, I have heard he is a team player and good overall kid, but he definitely was not a happy camper. I seriously doubt he wanted to see Etling fail. #6 is a competitor and maybe this wakes him up.
We all want to see our competitors fall short off beating us. Even if it's just playing golf with a friend, do you root for him to make the putt that will beat you?
I suck at Golf, so it wouldn't be a hard task to pull off for anyone. But to answer the question, being beat sucks regardless who it is beating you. The only option is to either work and get better, or get used to it. My stance still stands though, I don't think Harris wants to see any Tiger fail even if it is another QB. I just think he either has an unrealistic view of his own capabilities, or maybe he isn't the team player that he's been touted as. Either way, he had to have seen this coming.
Of course I wouldn't openly root against my teammates but Harris has to have some strong feelings of ambivalence about losing his job. Especially at QB. Any other position the backups can get significant playing time but once the backup takes a quarterback's starting job in most cases it marks the end of his career as a starter. Les being Less we have no sure idea what he might do but if Harris was at any other college he might as well make sure he graduates this year so he could transfer and be immediately eligible.
He need not fret, Les will now play a 2 headed monster at the QB position, giving each just enough reps to screw up any rhythm either may build.
I couldn't possibly image Dupre is so much of a dumbass that he'd purposely jeopardize his future by playing worse to try and make Etling look bad. I mean that'd be Les Miles level of dumbass.
