Of SI's top 100, 8 have committed to Texas. I guess you gotta believe Mack's one hell of a recruiter. And, he ain't finished. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/highschool/10/30/top.100.football/index.html
Any math major can tell you that for Mack to be successful he must sign 17.3 of the top 100 each year. .
Longhorn fans here have been telling me since June that Brown had commits from about 15 kids, each was like #1 rated at his position in Texas. Thinking is this class will be in the top 3 in the nation. He can recruit, and just winning the MNC don't hurt either. The first 15 commits were all from Texas. He's killing A&M in recruiting.
well we're looking alright right now....as soon as francois and davis commit which could be sooner things will get awhole lot better.
M. Brown was known for Mr. February for his ability to recruit every year so it's not surprised there. He is not known for a good game day coaching and hasn't win any championship at any school he was at until last year inspite of gathering top 5 recruiting classes years in and out. Also TX is a big state w/lots of talents so that would be easier for him to get top recruits every year.
Just messing with my fellow Tennessean, Mack Brown. His rep has always been great recruiter, average coach on game day.:yelwink2: Much like another guy from Tennessee, Phil Fulmer. If you could only blend 3 Tennesseans together - Fulmer and Brown for recruiting, and Spurrier for coaching, you would have it all.
Never have been able to figure out just how Fulmer does it, he just doesn't look the part but I guess he's pretty good at it. Brown is evidently very good. But I think I could be a good recruiter in his situation. "Okay, Reggie, where you wanna live the next 4-5 years ? Norman, Lubbock, Waco, Collie Station, or Austin ?" Case closed.
