Damn Red...you know what it's like when you are trying to come up with a word and can't think of it... Admonished?
Like I said, we can pretty much be assured that recruits ARE buying into whatever it is he is selling. :dis:
Isn't that the same thing Wayne Huizenga said too?? I know, I know......you made a disclaimer- "take it for what it's worth", that just screamed out at me. :thumb:
FWIW, this has to be the 4th or 5th time I've heard about a recruit saying the same thing. Funny you mention WH...he said, "Follow your heart." But, no one gives CNS any leeway on that one! Maybe I stand alone here. I don't watch the NFL anymore (haven't in years) because I can't stand the attitude/mentality of the majority of the players. (a few exceptions...). I guess, that makes it easier for me to relate to a coach not liking the experience.
Let it go, will you? Lying to the press is a lot different from lying to a recruit. Saban was a good recruiter for LSU because he took a businesslike attitude that appeals to a lot of recruits and parents. It's no different at Bama. Saban has a ton of holes to fill at Bama and he can promise a recruit playing time that a championship program can't. It has always worked this way. Its the reason Miss State and Ole Miss occasionally get a top player. Some of them would rather play early for any team than wait for their turn on a loaded team that is a contender.
I'll take it about the same way I took the unattributed "quotes" that Scarborough published. With a grain of salt. People are spinning the hell out of this story.
Refute whatever you feel like. Go on ... and on ... and on ... and on about it and I will tell you I'm tired of hearing it. Saban is a good recruiter, history shows this. If you want to blind yourself by imagining that he is now suddenly incompetent, discredited, and bumbling, you go right ahead. I think it's foolish.
Saban did indicate his dislike of the attitudes of some pro players while he was at LSU. I suppose what concerned him came back to haunt him at Miami. I believe he truly disliked his job in Miami and therefore his heart wasn't in it. That being said, the situation with Davis is looking shaky because of the "apparent misunderstanding", with "pressure" from LSU and the open arms from Bama.
Good one! I'm witcha 100% on that and feel the same about the NFL, but I did jump on the Saints' bandwagon after not watching them after they traded Anderson, and others years back- not to mention the MANY Sunday's they'd left me so pissed for squandering leads. Thank God we have a coach who plays 4 quarters, is a winner, and has a very talented team. I was proud of our Saints' this year.
I admit Im a bit more emotionally charged here because of who Davis is courting. It just gets me that a Louisiana kid what actually sell themselves to the devil like that. I know he hasnt decommitted, but still just possibility unfathomable to me. Anyways, Ive stated many times that Ive never agreed with committing, then decommitting or still looking. Its great for kids like Benton, Aubrey, Bajoie, Joseph, etc. They knew where they wanted to play all along. So they commit right away to LSU and their process is over. They havent looked elsewhere. I dont blame a kid for wanting to weight their options. On the other hand I dont blame someone like McKnight for not committing if he isnt totally sure. Or he may be sure but wants to hold out just in case he changes his mind. I just dont think its fair to the school or the coaches when someone changes or decommits. Im against it because like Ive said many times before it can throw off a schools recruiting plans. If a kid decommits close to, or on signing day that school is screwed. They wont be able to find a replacement. Yes, I do want Davis a Tiger and spoke off emotion. Still in all though, Im not a fan of what he is doing as a person.
