Great commit! :thumb: I know he's listed as the #24 DT, but one would think that if we land Barksdale (like some rumors claim) then with Woods and Barksdale, we'd have 2 freshmen DT's over 320 lbs. :thumb: Davis is listed as 6-4, 258 lbs., certainly capable of reaching the 280 lbs range typical of our DT liking, but Davis runs a 4.8-forty which is certainly, IMO, fast enough to be a dominant DE in our scheme (similar to a Chase Pittman). Can you imagine in a few years if those 3 D-lineman live up to their potential, we could have: DE Luther Davis, 6-4 roughly 270 lbs running a 4.8 DT Al Woods 6-2 roughly 315-320 lbs. DT J. Barksdale, 6-4 roughly 320 lbs. DE Jean-Francois, 6-3 roughly 280-290 lbs also capable of running 4.7-4.8 And let us not forget players like Drake Nevis (6-1, 281 lbs with a 4.8-forty also), capable of subbing in up and down the D-line and Rahim Alem subbing at DE? WOW!!!! WOW!
Scout lists Davis as a DE and Rivals lists him at DT. I think he could certainly play DE. It depends on his agility though. From what I know Id imagine he could play either position. He will definitely need to fill out if he will play DT. Especially with the monsters LSU already has at DT. Remember, Alexander will only be a Jr and Favorite will be just a Soph. We are loaded at DT for many years to come. I think Davis may redshirt next year. Add to that big time DEs Jackson(Jr) and Francois(Soph). If Miles wants Davis at DE Im sure he can get some PT next year considering we dont have anyone with real experience coming back next year besides those two. Tremaine Johnson(Jr) may also get more PT at DE next year.
id be okay with redshirting these guys. theres plenty of talent on the DL for now, we RS them, we get another year out of em. our DL is ridiculous
