So I'm listening to all the national talk shows yesterday and today and it seems like everyone is piling on LT for missing most of the AFCCG. Most are saying that if PR can play with a torn ACL, then LT should've played with his injury. I'm kind of divided in the middle. If you've ever seen LT's workout regimen, then you know he's not afraid of hard work. I think if he could've gone, he would've. Saying that, I also think that if he wasn't 100%, he should've AT LEAST been in the game when SD was in the red zone, even if it's just as a decoy. Remember, in addition to he abilities as a runner and receiver, he has been known to throw a pass or 2 when SD is in that area of the field. Maybe if he's in the game in the specific situation, SD doesn't have to settle for 4 FGs. Thoughts?
The Chargers season ended last year with LT on the field fighting with Patriots players for saying they're classless, etc... If LT were capable of playing, he would have played... period... Being a QB and having straight drops backwards and being a RB and having to cut, etc... are 2 diff ballgames.
What about being used as a decoy in the red zone? Surely the attention he would've drawn frees someone else up and maybe they score some TDs instead of settling for FGs. Of course, this is all speculation, but that's all we have at this point. I kind of lost a little respect for him though. Maybe he couldn't play, but he could've been engaged in the game and trying to help his teammates from the sidelines instead of sulking on the bench. BTW, what does this mean? I thought their season ended on Sunday?
Oh but the fair-weather has reconstituted here in SD. Some popcorn idiots actually want LT gone for sitting the game out! You think for a second the helmet with visor on his head doesn’t display his emotion for not being on the field then nothing will. LT is pure football and his actions define his intent. As far as the fair-weather, San Diego is the melting pot or spill over for the left coast. 75% residents here are transplants so opinions will definitely vary. I see the Chargers playing in Vegas before winning a Super Bowl in San Diego.
Payton wouldn't give him the ball. You and me both know that pass to Patten or Henderson or Terrance Copper is better than any running play.
It is not like LT didnt try to play. Sometimes you dont have to be a hero. I think we had some series this year where one of our defensive linemen should have taken himself out.
