You're blaming Les for the personal failings of three players. One turned into a slacker and got fired, one never could get himself above #4 on the depth chart and went to a girls school, and one never showed up. All coaches have to deal with this, not just Les.

Let me shorten this thread by giving Punk the answer he wants: Because Miles sucks, has no business being a head coach and should be fired yesterday.

By the way. I am the 100,000th visitor. No joke.

If Les signs Mettenberger let's hope his "personal failings" don't follow him to LSU or get worse.

If you want to criticize this decision, do it now. If you wait until Mettenberger has played, it will be 20/20 hindsight and useless.

Like Perrilloux it can go either way. I don't know if he has any other history besides a single drunken groping incident. Les is the one who has to talk with him and make the call. Provided we develop Rivers properly I don't see how it would hurt us all that much with Lee and Jefferson in the wings, unless Mettenberger is a total waste in his 1st year. It's not the same kind of all-or-nothing situation we had with Perrilloux. Assuming there's no other kind of attitude, academic, or disciplinary issues we're not aware of, I'd say it's a good gamble.

Exactly. It's not easy to 2nd guess before it plays out is it?

If any of yall wants to start paying me $4M a year to make the decision I'll be happy to do it. Knowing what we know now, I say Les should go for it. If that isn't simple or decisive enough let me know.

I don't blame Les for any of the above. BUT, with that said, that doesn't change the fact that he's 0-3 in QB recruiting recently. It is what it is.

I've hit a few hard liners right at people in the same game before. You know what I was when the game ended? 0-3.
