Hatch transferred because two younger players were going to be ahead of him. Like Garrett, when you're buried in the depth chart, you sometimes go find a place where you can get some PT. I think it's an urban myth. Lee either has the stuff or he doesn't, I've seen no evidence that he's any more "screwed up in his head" than Jefferson. He was a careless freshman, lets see if he's less so as a junior. Truth be told, when you have a highly touted recruit like Perrilloux, it drives away other highly touted recruits for a couple of years. They all want to play four years and share as little time as possible with other blue chippers.
but, RP was gone after only TWO years on the team, and it's been two years since he left. don't think that is having much to do with QB recruiting since his departure. i guess, if you throw in ZLee, he may have driven others away before he then decommitted. we have gotten screwed a bit at QB.
I asked this in another thread and never really got a response, but saying that do you think Les can go out and "scalp" another stud QB from a team who is waiting in line? To me that seems like the thing I would be doing along with trying to recruit QBs like a mad man. Just a thought
Miles just said this: “I think the advantage to the team is that both guys are competing every day in practice. We try to prepare both players to play. It’s a game day feel for me. I like Jordan Jefferson; I want him to be on the field, but if (we put) Jarrett in, I want him to have confidence because we have confidence in him. There’s a point in time that a guy that works as hard as Jarrett needs the opportunity to get on the field and play. I don’t think it’s in regard to how Jordan is playing. Those things are a game day feel. "
I think The Reverend Doctor Les is feelin' the spirit. Incidentally, regarding Andrew Hatch . . . Hatch To Replace Injured Winters at QB for Harvard | The Harvard Crimson
LSU has had a number of two-sport athletes in recent years, guys like Chad Jones, Jared Mitchell, Chris Jackson (not Mahmoud), and Jeremy Whitten. All excelled in 1 sport or the other. But none were quarterback, which is the point some other posters were making. Quarterback takes a level of time and focus to excel that is unlike any position in any other team sport. Two-sport athletes are fine, but you take an enormous gamble when you bank on that guy to eventually be your starting QB. You think Peterson will leave early to enter a league that may lock out its players next fall? Please tell me you're not giving PP career advice.
LSU has never been known for great QBs - we have had two, Tittle and Jones, to make it at the next level. Flynn and Maulk were average in college and Flynn will be a backup at best. Russell was a total flop at next level but was good at LSU. He should have joined Tittle and Jones; however, he is lazy.
Regardless of why he left, his is an arm we could use since we're now two injuries removed from a walk-on starting at QB for LSU. You did catch the LaTech game last year, right? I also hope he's improved significantly in the off-season. He's got good physical tools to work with, but I saw nothing last year that tells me he's any better at running the offense than Jefferson. And with our anemic offensive numbers that ain't good. Between Perrilloux, Garrett, and Zach Lee, Les is now batting 0-3 in QB recruiting over the last few years. He needs to come up with a hit and soon. Maybe it'll be the Rivers kid, maybe a transfer, but we need to find somebody bad. [/QUOTE]
