I dont see any similarities to what Stoops did at Oklahoma and what Miles is doing at LSU. Stoops took over a down trodden program that was in shambles and rebuilt it from the ground up. Miles took over a well oiled machine that had already been rebuilt with a huge stockpile of talent.

If we have another 4 losses next year Miles will justifiably be compared to Larry Coker who also took over a well oiled machine. This comparison to Stoops and Oklahoma is comparing apples to oranges.

I scolded a lot of people who gave some half-baked opinion without any factual or logical support, sure. And?

If you agree Miles is a good head coach, then good.

I'm sick of the Les Miles to Larry Coker analogy, and I love smashing it. And I will carry on doing so.

As for talking about stuff like playcalling, etc:

yeah, you are pretty much an idiot if you think you have any idea what you are talking about if you have no coaching experience. Do you see me talking about stuff like playcalling here?

In 2005, Miles took over a well-oiled machine that had already been rebuilt with a huge stockpile of talent by someone else.

In 2005, Stoops took over a well-oiled machine that had already been rebuilt with a huge stockpile of talent by Stoops himself, right?

Wouldn't Stoops have the advantage here?

Yet Miles did better than Stoops from 2005-2007, in a tougher conference. Amazing.

"Half baked opinion" based on what is seen on the field game after game is more legit than asking, "what coaching experience do you have?" It's right there on the freaking field... a blind man can see how pitiful the defense is.

    Good.

Time will tell if it's legit. Besides, Coker was fired after losing his team completely... remember that massive fight with FAU? He may not have been fired had everything not gone so sour. I think people forget about that. If Miles loses this team in a couple years and fights are breaking out on the field, players are being arrested, etc., I can see that argument having merit. So far, Miles is far from a Coker.

No. I'm referring to when you scolded mastermind and a couple of others for scolding the defense without them having "coaching experience." The proof is in the pudding.

Look at Danny Ford at Clemson:

    1981 12-0 (National Champions)
    1982 9-1-1 (Conference Champions)
    1983 9-1-1
    1984 7-4
    1985 6-6

He should have been fired, right?

    1986 8-2-2 (Conference Champions)
    1987 10-2 (Conference Champions)
    1988 10-2 (Conference Champions)
    1989 10-2

    I agree.

I remember Coker even admitted that he had lost his team completely. There was that bench-clearing brawl where the ACC suspended 13 Miami players, there was a murder involving a Miami player, there were shooting incidents involving other Miami players... it was mess. Miami felt that the previous coach Butch Davis had cleaned up their "Thug U" image, and that Coker was letting Miami spiral back into being a bunch of criminals.

I don't see how that has any relevance to Les Miles. Like you said, Miles is far from Coker.

If Miami wouldn't have had any off-the-field problems under Coker, would Miami have still fired Coker? It is impossible to know. But maybe they would have still fired him... maybe they would have figured it would be easy to get another great coach that could do as good as Coker, Butch Davis, Jimmy Johnson, and Dennis Erickson. Yet, if that was the case, they would have been wrong. Look at them now.

Yeah. I'm not so sure they would have fired him.

Miles could have been seen as a Coker had he let RP stay, but he made the right decision. On CBS, they were talking about how the whole LSU team knew it was the right decision. There are no similarities to Coker thus far.

    1956 6-3
    1957 9-1 (National Champions)

    1969 8-1 (Big Ten Champions)
    1970 9-1 (National Champions)
