Should we be fortunate and win our last 2 games, here is the list of likely opponents by percentage: 1. W. Virginia...... 36 % 2. Missouri.......... 26 % 3. Kansas........... 24 % 4. Ohio State....... 8 % 5. Arizona State.... 6 % These are the only 5 teams LSU could play, since a 1 loss Ohio State is the default opponent should the other 4 teams all lose out. Arizona State jumps Ohio State in the BCS if they beat USC and will stay ahead with a win over rival Arizona the last weekend of the season. Percentages used: WVU - vs UConn (75), vs Pitt (95) Mizzou - vs Kansas (52), vs OU (50) Kansas - vs Mizzou (48), vs OU (50) ASU - vs USC (40), vs Arizona (70) My gut tells me the pressure will be too much for the winner of the Missouri/Kansas game to come back and beat OU in the Big 12 CG. I also believe W. Virginia will be too much for UConn at home, and then they ease on in with a runaway game vs. a fairly bad Pitt team. LSU vs. W. Virginia What a tremendous matchup of what I believe are the 2 most talented teams in the nation (along with 2 really good head coaches).
Nice analysis. Shows that there's still a LOT of competitive football left in this season. I was reviewing this myself. It gets interesting if some of the possible upsets happen this week, like UConn knocking off WVU, USC beating ASU, and Mizzou beating Kansas and then losing to Oklahoma.
Islstl, Thanks for a great post! I think LSU WVU is the best looking matchup, I'd love it! Now we gotta go out and take care of business. Arky and the SECCG. :geauxtige
Can somebpdy explain to me the difference between Kansas and Missouri??? I thought they were the same teams.
Using your odds, I get 28.5 for West Virginia: .5 (odds of Oklahoma winning Big 12) x .6 x .95 I am curious how you got 27.5. Are you including the possibility that Oklahoma doesn't reach the Big 12 CG? The bigger quibble is that I think there is a much better than 60% chance that West Virginia beats UConn. The game is in Morgantown, and WVU is a 17 point favorite. USC is a 3 point favorite over ASU and you are giving them the same odds. I'd put West Virginia at around 80/85% over UConn.
If so, they're going to have a world class identity crisis in front of the national sports audience on Saturday night!:thumb:
