Les Miles told SiriusXM College Sports Nation this week his name was not floated for the now-filled Arkansas job so he could get a raise or an extension from LSU.
"That was not the case with Arkansas," said Miles, who got a seven-year extension from LSU. "I have great respect for the institution and certainly what they've accomplished in our conference. Jeff Long, the AD there is longtime friend of mine and associate. I recognized the professionalism that he offers. So there was a sincerity about our conversations - not offer - but a sincerity about our conversations that I certainly had to respect.
"That's not a point of leverage, in my mind. I have never been or needed to be the highest-paid guy in this country. I can tell you that we would compare success here with any. I can tell you that we're more affixed in the longevity of the contract than we are with how much we're making. The opportunity to be here seven years and continue success and hopefully continue to exceed expectations is what we've set as the mark."
He also reiterated his commitment to LSU during the interview.
"I would be foolish to leave," he said.

I've always wondered why coaches refer to themselves as "we" when speaking about themselves solely.

'We' as in he and his family. And/or his coaches.

    What does that even mean?

I believe Les is here for the long haul. After flirting with UM twice, that ship as sailed and no other job is as attractive. Basically, everything les said in that quote is a lie. Not in a malicious way, but it's just not the truth. He spoke to Jeff Long and floated his name to leverage a contract. The one thing that may not be a lie is the importance over the length of the contract versus the money per year. Although either way, the money is still very important to him as it would be to any of us.

    Translation: Show me the money?

    Answer: Checks in the mail.

To think that Bielema was fascinated with the SEC is a crock. To think that he couldn't get paid for results for himself and his coaching staff was pivotal and Alvarez/Wisconsin blew it. LSU, knew better.

What does the (RED) quotation mean? or what does "even mean" mean? Is that 'even' correct usage of the English language?

LSU's recruiting budget is funded almost entirely by endowments. There can be times that an endowment does not fund and so, to a certain degree, I do agree that there should be a separate fund established to offset unforeseen primary funding matters. Telling a kid a check bounced (never said) can't be good, but the effects are still there. Lose a kid after fumbling a visit can be the difference between a loaded backfield or two injuries away from a cluster fuck. Funding should never get in the way.

What is not reported is the investment to obtain said endowments. Saban is a master in this area. To a fault one can only pray. Bammer is always a candidate for sideline penis envy yet Saban seems to have this under control. Caroll/ Kiffin, not so much...

Miles will always work an offer to get smaller pieces to fit better. MORE CONTROL of the overall program has been his gift, something half a mill can't buy. Making Alleva eat shit, well that is the real bonus. With that, I fully expect some pretty major OC adjustments made before the spring.
