Assuming he doesn't have the grades, is he THAT good? Seems like a lot of bank to spend on a fella who (a lot of you in the know think) might go to JUCO or USM or military school... Please 'splain to the recruiting newbie...
DeAndre Brown has TREMENDOUS upside. He is a 6 foot 6" bohemoth that runs like a deer. He has been called "the next Randy Moss". I've had the pleasure of watching him play in person the last few years. He will give D coordinator's fits when he steps onto the field. Physically, DeAndre Brown is a freak. He's a 5 star WR for a reason. Should LSU land DeAndre, you will see why he is so special. http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=50455&Sport=1
Indeed. Answered my own question, I guess. Just wondering if I'm missing something. Whoa. OK. I guess my question is, how would it work if he went to USM? Is he gone? Is there precedent? I get the JUCO route - ala Byrd. What about USM?
I think hes more..Plaxico Burress or maybe Terrell Owens than Moss. They're probably of similar built but Moss is incredibly fast. He ran in the 4.2s at Florida State before transferring to Marshall.
I agree, however I was alluding to a certain article that I read about him. It was a great article, too.
The coaches are talking about options with him on his grade situation. If he can get some work done this summer, he could make it to LSU for the Fall and probably take a RS if he needs to get his education off to a good start. If that is not possible, I expect the coaches are talking about him either going to a Prep School like Benton did last year or JUCO and sign with us after 2 years. If he goes the prep route he will have more years to play at LSU. However, he might need a sponsor or grant to come up with the dough to attend prep school for a year. The coaches are doing everything they can to get him to LSU because he would rather come here rather than USM. USM has lower standards to qualify and he could play from the get go but does USM have a guy that can get him the ball, nope. USM is not official or the leader for him but could be a more comfortable option for him for his future. So USM with no questions about qualifying and playing or LSU where there is not guarantees and much hard work will be needed in the classroom just to touch the field. I am sure some will disagree with some of my facts but I hope it answered some of your questions.:thumb:
Anything our coaches can do to get him here legally i am down with... I hope things work out the best way they can.
