well last year, all of our conf home games were during the day on CBS, so obviously that was tougher than our non-existant night schedule.

most people here are making the "time of kick-off" argument.
reason for sh!t record on CBS, is because most CBS games are during the day.
our daytime record ain't all that.
our night time record is impressive. even though our average night opponent is tougher than our average day opponent.

I also think that CBS' 8 minute timeouts every time there is a stoppage in play also has lots to do with the ebb and flow of the game. I personally think the SEC should dictate the length of commercial breaks during SEC games. The SEC holds all the marbles in the TV contracts, and they should squeeze CBS where they can. I realize that this is where CBS makes its money, and where the SEC gets its fat contract from CBS, but we really need to do something about the ridiculous length of these commercial breaks. Sometimes I feel like I could walk back to the tailgate, drink a beer, and then head back just in time for play to start up again.:dis:

As for CBS daytime games, those tend to be primarlily significant SEC matchups of upper echelon teams. Parity in the conference dictates that our record in those games will not be nearly as biased as evening games when we are not playing in those significant matchups at near the same frequency. I'm not saying that we don't play signficant games at night. Only that the games that are played on CBS are almost always a powerhouse matchup, where any SEC power can beat another on any given day.

I attribute the Auburn loss in 2006 to two things: CBS and referees. In that order.

I don't like Lundquist cause he's old and gets names wrong and I can't stand Danielson's nasally voice. I do love the theme song, though.

Wow. I thought it was just me. I despise Gary. Not just his bias or his irritating voice. I don't think he's very good at calling the games. He gets hung up on irrelevant topics designed to showcase his knowledge, and I don't know any announcer who can beat a topic to death like he can.

But I have to say it's not just Danielson. This seems to be a problem with college football analysts in general. For every Mark May or Kirk Herbstreit who lends some amount of credibility, there's a Lou Holtz or Trev Albert or someone else making some clearly ridiculous statement designed to gin up controversy and ratings.

Now look at NFL game coverage, which does not have these problems. Troy Aikman is my gold standard for color commentators. He obviously has a terrific football mind and never lets bias taint his commentary, even when he calls Cowboys games. I always learn something new about the game when I watch him on CBS. Yet the same network sticks us with these clowns on Saturdays. The sport deserves so much better.
