So I got a little bored today and figured I would do a little research. Since this past year our Tigers were abysmal when they played on CBS, I wanted to see what their record has been when playing on CBS and ESPN since the 2000 season.

Well I came up with these numbers

    When playing on ESPN: 26-5
    When playing on CBS: 19-16

    Other interesting facts:

    • 28 of the 35 games played on CBS where in/or around the 2:30 slot. (I hate our Tigers playing during the day)
    • LSU's record when playing on CBS during the day at Tiger Stadium: 9-6
    • LSU's record when playing night games at Tiger Stadium on ESPN: 16-3
    • Record at Tiger Stadium since 2000: 54-10
    • LSU's only loss in 2003 came on CBS
    • 2 of LSU's 3 losses in 2004 came on CBS. Their only other loss came on ABC in the bowl game against Iowa.
    • Both losses in 2006 and 2007 came on CBS.
    • All *cringes* 5 of their losses last year came on CBS.
    • LSU's last 10 losses have came on CBS

I was looking at our schedule for this coming football season and it looks like every home game the Tigers have will most likely be played on ESPN unless im missing something. Their games against Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Mississippi State seem to be up in the air.

Just thought I'd share this fun info with the rest of you.

*note: I believe most of the win-loss facts are right. If not, I'm sorry.

All of this is pretty interesting although the CBS (day) and the ESPN (night) is clearly a factor.

    Nice work:thumb:

What's the quality of the opponent on CBS vs. ESPN and day vs. night? Those two items might have a whole lot more to do with the record than the network or time of day the game is played.

The other factor not mentioned is home vs. away. That's a biggie as well.

Most of our televised games are conference match-ups. So the quality is pretty high regardless of station or time.

    Signature says it all.

I honestly wonder if Danielson has some beef with LSU. I know, I know, media conspiracy and all that. But I don't remember him making his snide little asides about other teams nearly as often. And his Tebow man-love is just beyond pathetic. I remember in the 2007 season he screamed bloody murder because he thought an LSU defender tried to take out Tebow's knee as he was going out of bounds. The replay showed that was not the case. On Tridon's PR TD at Ole Miss he was desperately calling for a non-existent holding penalty. The guy is a good X's and O's analyst, but he needs to keep his little comments to himself.

That's BS. Research and I'll bet you find that your matchups with Alabama, Florida, Georgia (the better teams) occur during CBS games. The lesser teams in the conference are probably the bulk of the night games AT LSU on ESPN.

Maybe Danielson got his anti-LSU attitude because of the many years he spent playing for very mediocre teams (Detroit, Cleveland), so that he can't stand the sight of a real winning team; a team that has come from behind more than a few times to win, something he never experienced with Detroit and Cleveland, who always seem to accept their fate and give up.

Danielson is the "Anti-LSU", and anyone who plays against the Tigers becomes the weekly hero for Gary.:geauxtige

Please do better research. EVERY game against Florida, Alabama and Georgia in the two years you listed were on CBS and only the Florida games were at night. 4 PM does not count as a "night" game. It's an afternoon game.

BTW, I'm not trying to rag on you. It is common sense that the marquee games will get better billing and the CBS slots. The deal with ESPN may effect a change in the future.
