Not meaning to chit talk, but I find it humorous that in the last month or so that I've been on here, I've repeatedly heard things like, "This is Oregon's game of the year, but this is just another game for LSU"... or things along those lines. Yet, I see reports that LSU has been doing extra conditioning, and throwing in uptempo drills at the end of practice to prepare them for Oregon. You know you've gotten into another teams head, when they're preparing for your team 7 months before the game. Good for them. They've learned that to have a chance to beat Oregon, you do your due diligence in your preparations.
Yeah...amazing how your team is SO scary, the opposition's coaches actually gameplan for them. :rolleye33:
yes we are prepping appropriately for oregon, we're not we todds...doesn't make that statement any less true. if the ducks aren't doing the same they won't stand a chance either. you're living in crazy town if you think LSU is intimidated by an up-tempo offense.
Well I'm sure the coaches are game planning for LSU, but they haven't installed anything for LSU yet. Just the regular offense and defense. LSU on the other hand is doing "special" preparation for Oregon with the conditioning drills and uptempo drills ran at Oregon's breakneck speed. I'm sure the coaching staff at LSU was intimidated enough by Oregon's offense to add those two things to their off season workout's and fall camp.
Game planning is one thing...doing extra special conditioning and doing uptempo drills based on trying to keep up with Oregon's blur offense is different.
It doesn't make Oregon physically superior. It's just a different style of play than LSU is used to and we are adjusting accordingly. If a sprinter is asked to switch to long distance races, he will have to change his training regiment. It doesn't mean that the distance runners are that much more impressive athletically. It's just a different kind of race.
And look where not preparing for AU got you. You refused to change in that game and LOST. Oregon could have beaten AU in the air, but you failed to do "EXTRA" preparation.. Oregon simply thought that normal business would win the game. I mean, if you are already taking a moral victory out of this then congrats…..:thumb: Oregon is a team with lots of speed that runs a gimmick O to capitalize on more traditional teams. Oregon could very well beat LSU if LSU was as cocky to think that no team on earth could compete with them, even a lowly Pac-12 team. Though that is not the case. LSU respects Oregon much more than I am sure Oregon respects LSU. I have no doubt in my mind Oregon thinks LSU lost the Tenn game. I have no doubt in my mind Oregon thinks AU beat the chit out of LSU. I have no doubt in my mind that Oregon thinks LSU was just “lucky” in 2010….
One good thing about the extra speed drills on defense is that the team will be in extra great shape and prepared to deal with the no huddle two minute offenses we will have to contend with later in sec play. The defense should be quicker with subbing and faster to the line and setting up. When there is little time left on the clock and an sec team is in the hurry up offense, our defense will be better prepared.
Game planning involves preparing for what your opponent is going to try to do. Practicing for an uptempo pace is game planning.
