Chill, dude. We're here to have fun and we've had fun with this guy all summer. You are late to the game. Don't let it give you ulcers.
Im tired of this guy..............Id rather start fighting with other Duck fans by now Oregon/LSU game cant get here quick enough.
Show me where the gimmick is? The speed at which they run their offense is about the only thing I see, but that comes from a pace stand point, not any "gimmicks" thrown into the offense. Watch the plays themselves. Nothing gimmicky about them.
Boy, it's nice to see I have such a positive effect on you. Ban me if you wish, but I'm not breaking any forum rules.
Btw, there are local classes and support groups available for you can take, to deal with your anger management issues.
An SEC fan pointing a finger at a PAC 10 team for running a "gimmicky" offense. That's some rich shyt right there. PAC fans call the spread offense "gimmicky". "Gimmicky" is such a misnomer that people throw around. Oregon's offense is rather quite simple. They line up, take what the defense gives and do so with speed.
Though I largely agree that to call their ENTIRE offense "gimmicky" would be a misnomer, I do still find it to be gimmicky. They find a useful exploit in the defense, generally based on personnel packages, and then continue to go after that one weakness by not letting the defense off the field. It's very similar to in basketball when a team goes small because their big man needs to get off the court and the other team goes big and dumps the ball into their big guys every single possession. If I'm not mistaken, when this offense first hit national spotlight a few years ago, it was noted that Chip Kelly used 4 different posters to tell the offense what the play-call was on the run; that means that he would use 4 different plays for a whole drive(or four different sets of 2 or 3 of which would then be narrowed down to the play to run based on the defense's look). Running so few plays over and over is "gimmicky" to me. There's not much real thought going on, it's merely a few intertwined contingencies determining your action and the hopes that your guy can beat the defense in one-on-one situations. Chavis was the best DC at figuring out Urban Meyer's gadget-savvy offense, which was much more complex. I have few doubts that he'll be able to gameplan and prepare our players enough to stop Chip Kelly's.
