It's been tried. They have made this huge trophy called "The Boot" and tried really hard to make the LSU/Arkansas game into the next Iron Bowl with the annual Day-after-Thanksgiving national TV game and all. But the manufactured rivalry has just never caught on with the fans from either school. They are new to the SEC and we just have no long history with them.
If the LSu-AU games continue to go down like the last 3 have, this rivalry will catch on nationally, and the hatred between the two schools will definitely rise. Hell they already hate each other so much that neither team gives the other the repect to call it a rivalry.
It's hard to give games that are tainted with cheating and poor officiating a tile of rivalry. It's almost more of a rivalry between the fans that acknowledge the horrific calls vs. those who turn their heads.
How is this such a hard question? It is Arkansas. Its the year end, day after thangsgiving, annual battle for the Boot. For all the people saying Alabama.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? A team who beats you 90% of the time can't be your rival.
With that kind of math I would believe you are an Alabama alum. I know you guys own the series, but it is nowhere near 90%. More like two thirds. Plus you guys have only beat us once this century. Quit living in the past.
I guess last year went in one ear and totally out the other didn't it? 10-2 record, No. 8. The OT loss vs. LSU stung, but that could have gone either way and you know it. It went down to the final seconds. And how about the SI cover with "BAMA IS BACK" plastered all over it? Surely SI doesn't live in the past?
