You guys are looking at a fairly meaningless stat.

Anybody can kick a FG inside 37 yards.

The real stat comparison is converting TDs in the redzone.

    2010 - LSU 27 of 51, 53 % (96th nationally)
    2011 - LSU 35 of 46, 76 % (6th nationally)

Well that's actually what I was driving at, even though I couldn't find last year's stats. This year we have the ability to finish those drives in the end zone rather than settling - so those who say the LSU offense is average to below average simply can't or won't see reality.

oK ... yeah .. I remember that post now.

I went about it a different way, but came up with a similar conclusion.

I calculated the opponents score compared to what they were expected to score against their other opponents, and came up with a percentage, then averaged the percentages. The offenses Bama faced on average scored 70% of what they should have against other opponents ... the offenses LSU faced averaged 121% of what they should have scored against other opponents.

I then adjusted Bama's "points against" number by the difference to put it as you say, and apples to apples comparison.

Yet another testimony to illustrate how LSU DOES have an offense, and they ain't half bad.
