He played well against most teams in 2011. However, he couldn't handle the pressure in big games. He lost his job against Bama because he panicked and threw 2 bad INTs in the game of the century, back to back INTs. He would have probably thrown 4-5 INTs in that game. He was really rattled. JJ wasn't elite but handled pressure better.

Jamarcus Russell was an elite college QB.

JaMarcus Russell had 2 games over 300 yards and the second one was his last game vs notre dame. Not elite.

I see no flaw in this logic.

Agree. His Senior year he had a 68% completion rate and 28 TD. He was the first-team All-SEC QB and won the Manning Award for top QB in the nation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manning_Award#Winners

Don't let his (deserved) status as the worst #1 draft pick ever taint your memories. He was a great QB.

What taints my memory of Jamarcus the most as a tiger was his fumble on the one yard line against Florida. After he left, that giant "A" studded with diamonds he wore around his neck sure spelled trouble ahead. Nevertheless, he was an "A Quality" QB who I would take any day.

Unfortunately, Jamarcus made this list of NFL stars...
